Experience Over Everything
Some owners talk about performance. Others focus on features. For the Donovan family, it’s simpler—they talk about experience. After three boats and a fourth on the way, their perspective has been shaped by years on the water. So we asked what keeps them coming back.
A Journey with MasterCraft
Their story started with a 2012 X2, followed by a 2017 X10 and a 2020 XT22. In a few weeks, they’ll take delivery of their fourth boat, a 2026 XT22.
Their first decision came through a mix of trusted input from their local dealer, SkipperBuds, and extensive research online and with other owners. After that first MasterCraft, they were hooked.
Why They Keep Coming Back
We asked Tom what continues to bring his family back.
“Where do I begin? First and foremost, MasterCraft has always been and will continue to be the industry standard. Most people who buy a boat in this market would prefer to buy a MasterCraft, but choose another boat hoping to, one day, be able to upgrade to MC. As mentioned, the fit-and-finish on a MasterCraft is top shelf. The components and their connectivity to rest of the boat easily separate a MasterCraft from the competition. The cabin cockpit is so much more quiet and calm than other boats. The ski/board clamps on the MC tower are best-in-class”.
For Tom, it’s about more than performance—it’s the full experience on and off the water.
“Finally, the service we’ve received from MC and SkipperBuds has been nothing other than exceptional. Response to requests and eagerness to please are hallmarks of the MasterCraft brand!”
It’s the kind of support we strive to deliver—building trust that lasts well beyond the first purchase.
Built Around the Moments That Matter
At MasterCraft, it’s not just about building boats—it’s about the memories that come with them. For the Donovan family, those moments center around the Fourth of July, or as they call it, their “Christmas in July.” Friends and family gather at their lake house, spending the day cruising and connecting with others along the docks.
What MasterCraft Means
When asked what MasterCraft means to him, Tom said:
“MasterCraft means Quality. MasterCraft means a high-level commitment to excellence in manufacturing, components and customer service. There is MasterCraft and then there is everyone else.”
Always Looking Ahead
Even after years of ownership, there’s always something new to look forward to.
“Technology continues to improve at light speed. After our 5-year warranty expires, we always begin to think about the next boat because 5 years brings about tremendous change and improvement in the boating industry”.
He added, “Our new XT22 has so many new features over our 2020 XT22, it’s absolutely insane! We love it.”
It’s continued innovation, combined with a consistent ownership experience, that keeps the Donovan family coming back year after year.
Tom and the Donovan family, we’re grateful to have you as part of the MasterCraft family and look forward to many more years on the water together.
