On August 7th, MasterCraft Boat Company held its breath as it revealed its newest icon the 2014 MasterCraft ProStar hoping it would win the hearts and minds of the waterski community. After three days packed full of non-stop demos and competition skiing, the votes have been tallied the 2014 MasterCraft ProStar is the new darling of the waterski coterie.

On Wednesday August 7th, MasterCraft held a media day for magazines, bloggers and local pubs to ski and drive the new boat. The reactions were immediate they were blown away by the unparalleled form and function that MasterCraft achieved with the ProStar. In fact one media guest commented, This is the best tournament boat I have ever seen or skied behind and its amazing at all line lengths and speeds. MasterCraft certainly hit a home run with this boat.

And despite colder than normal temperatures, the athletes brought the heat creating more course records than ever in the history of Predator Bay Ski Club. Thousands of spectators lined the shoreline hoping to witness phenomenal, record setting action and of course, the athletes and new ProStar did not disappoint. Nate Smith was the first to break the course record with 5 at 41 off. But soon after, Will Asher decided he would break that new record and skied 5 and a half at 41 off. The response from Marcus Brown, MasterCraft Team Skier and development team member, was We, MasterCraft, went into this reveal with confidence, combined with a decent amount of anxiety. No matter how much testing is done, you truly can never know how the public will react once the product is out in the wild. The last few runs were complete confirmation of what we already knew. This boat is going to make history.

While Whitney McClintock took first, MasterCraft Team Skiers Karen Truelove Kruger and April Cobble-Eller finished 2nd and 3rd respectively. Nate Smith took top spot in the mens slalom followed by Will Asher and Chris Rossi. Ryan Dodd and Freddy Kruger, who also broke the course record in the prelims, battled it out all day to take the crown for the pro men jump. Dodd, the hometown favorite, ends up in first place while Freddy took second.

"After two years of watching the team agonize over every detail of the new ProStar, I knew we had something special. But until you get the validation from those not associated with the project you just can't help but be anxious, said MasterCraft Team Skier Freddy Kruger. The MasterCraft Calgary Pro Waterski Shootout and the reaction from the skiers who competed in this event behind the new ProStar ended up being beyond anything we could have imagined.
