A Day on the Lake Turned Into a Life-Saving Rescue
For many families, the Fourth of July is about making memories on the water. For Texas firefighter and MasterCraft owner Jason Horne, it became a day that three families will never forget.
While spending Independence Day on Alvarado Lake with his daughter, Jason was enjoying a well-deserved day off when a nearby boat carrying nine people suddenly capsized. Three children became trapped beneath the overturned vessel. Without hesitation, Jason dove into the water, rescuing each child one by one and performing CPR on two of them before first responders arrived. Thanks to his and his daughter's quick thinking, training, and courage, all three children survived and were transported to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries.
The MasterCraft Behind the Hero
While Jason's actions on the Fourth of July captured the attention of many, his connection to the water began long before that day.
Jason is the proud owner of a 1980 MasterCraft Stars and Stripes ProStar, a classic piece of MasterCraft history that he's currently in the process of restoring. Like many owners of vintage MasterCrafts, Jason appreciates the craftsmanship, heritage, and memories these iconic boats represent, even calling it his "dream boat."
That appreciation for the water, family, and the boating community is something shared by so many MasterCraft owners. It's a passion that extends beyond the boat itself—one rooted in spending time together, looking out for one another, and making every day on the water count.
Jason's story is a powerful reminder that while our boats create unforgettable experiences, it's the people behind the wheel who truly define the MasterCraft community.
The MasterCraft Community
Stories like Jason's remind us that the MasterCraft community is built on more than incredible boats. It's made up of people who look out for one another, who value family, and who understand that some of life's greatest moments—and greatest responsibilities—happen on the water.
While we celebrate the heritage behind every MasterCraft, it's owners like Jason who truly represent what makes this community special.
Jason, thank you for your extraordinary courage, your selfless actions, and for reminding us all what it means to step up when it matters most.
From everyone at MasterCraft, we're proud to have you as part of our family.
