New Receiver?

Looking to upgrade... I have a 2008 x14 with the stock JL receiver. It works great but really want some feature it does not have.

Needs:

Bluetooth
Zone capabilities
Expandable i.e. I do not yet have tower speakers.

Thank you in advance.

Got a pic? JL did not make a receiver/head unit in 08. IIRC, Mastercraft used Clarion. CMD5 model sounds about right. You can add BT to the CMD series and they have 3 pair of pre-out RCA. Not real zone control, but front/rear fade.

I went with the clarion M608 for the same reasons. Wiring harness was the same and was a straight plug and play for me.

I did the same. Super simple swap. The next year swapped out the old JL Amps with the new smaller more efficient Amps as well. The new head unit added the features, the new amps reduced the footprint by two thirds while increasing power and efficiency.

No issue with the two remotes (by driver and stern) working?

I had to replace mine at the stern. Apparently this is a common problem with the older controls.

I have the big screen dash and it still shows the song info on that screen. Transom remote did not have a screen but all buttons worked.

The old Clarion remotes are 6-pin and the new Clarion head units use an 8-pin remote/cable. There is a 6 to 8 adapter cable, but this does not make the remotes 100% compatible. No screen and I think a couple functions are inoperable.
