winner winner chicken dinner... I am a big fan of the 79-85 but the 86 is the same hull aside from the powerslot where in 1986 all hulls – 1:1 transmissions and 1.5:1 transmissions – came equipped with PowerSlot hulls. Period... that is the only change and that is nothing. Ney-sayers can dispute all day long... No cigar. That is the only specific difference in the hulls from the earlier 80s models.

I would consider that 86 as quickly as the 83.

I like the flake admixture as well as anyone. Here's a consideration; if one ever has to sand out the oxidation, the flake can be deep or shallow in the gel. Once you sand past flake, it typically shows the next layer of the build as a black or dark spot. There is nothing behind the flake chip to keep the color as what is at the depth of the gel. The solid colors are much easier to sand and not have this to worry.

Go for the 86!!!! Go now and fast! For the money that 86 is a decent deal.

X2 on the 86! The 83 looks like a fair deal, but there's work involved. That 86 is water ready and it looks nice!! A better value in my opinion...
