Is there something thatís supposed to be here?

I went to check on the boat down in storage last week and I noticed a hole that looks like it should have a plug or something. Anyone know what it is? It is on the block right before the transmission. 1997 Prostar 205 with the 5.7

.

Probably a bolt hole that what would be used if the block was in an automotive application.

Is it just above the oil filter housing?

Yep, right over the filter. The gauge worked fine over the summer though

Looks like some new hoses needed too. But that is an unused fitting.

Only time I worry is when I find parts laying in my bilge. I found some small pieces of springs in my bilge back in Nov and right away I knew they were from my damper plate. Boat even ran fine before that. Long story short if your worried about something missing on your engine check the bilge because the parts have no where else to go.
