mefi 1ecm

Hi, can anybody provide any direction in finding a mefi 1 ecm for my 1997 Maristar? Mechanic says he can't find a 1 or 2 and my understanding is a 3 and above won't work.
Thanks

I'm not a mech guy but that's what the mechanic said - I may be using the wrong term but I know he said it was a "1".

I'm pretty sure a '97 is MEFI 3, but one way to tell is by checking the relays, to see what kind of ECM output is used- if it's +12VDC, it's MEFI 1 or 2 and if it's a grounding output, it's MEFI 3 or later. Also, MEFI 3 has internal knock sensor module and MEFI had an external one.

Worst case, look at the label.

Had to get my ECM replaced on my old Malibu. It was a 2002 Indmar and was either MEFI 1 or 2. The shop worked with these guys:

They tried rebuilding it first, that didn't work so I had to go w/ the replacement option. $$$$$

Good luck
