Day trip to the Hiawatha. 110 miles including burger stop at the buckhorn....snowed most of the day. Forest service roads were great riding...

Man am I jealous. We are waiting for the UP toget enough snow to start playing around the Newberry area but it looks like its gonna be a while yet. I may have to seek the white stuff elsewhereto get my early season fix.

Love hearing that.

Where is the Buckhorn you referred to? I have been to one in the UP over by Munising but can't imagine we are talking about the same place as I did not think the trails were set up yet in that area.

That is the same Buckhorn....Wetmore, MI near Munising on Buckhorn road and Trail 7

Trails opened December 1. They are grooming occasionally trying to establish a base. 7 to the south is getting packed down pretty well. Other than segments of 7 and 41, we rode mostly Hiawatha Forest roads

Awesome. Loved that ride up thru that area. My wife and I did a backpack trek a few years back starting in St.Ignace and making a loop up thru Munising then over to Paradise and back to Iggy. Had one of the best breakfasts ever at the Buckhorn and the ride from Munising area over thru Grand Mari to Paradise along the lake was one of the best I have ever taken. The lake had frozen over and I walked out about 200 yards onto the ice to a giant iceberg that had formed standing about 15 feet out of the ice. Got some cool pics from standing on top of it.....now if I could only find them!
Hope the UP has a good season as the past few have been marginal at best.
