hurth 63 IV seal replacement

Has anyone replaced the seals in their Vdrive before? If so is it a very hard job and do I need any specialty tools to get the job done. Do you have to split the case to replace them? Thanks

You don't have to split the case. If the sealing surface on the hollow through shaft is pitted, we have had success using a speedi-sleeve to get a smooth sealing surface.

I have my HSW 630 V Trans out of my X-30 with LTR engine out now. I have replaced the two prop shaft seal, but want to replace the output shaft seal, do you know the correct part number?

The seals that seal the hollow output shaft that the propshaft goes through are output shaft seals. The seal that seals the splined shaft that goes into the flex plate is the input shaft seal. Our P/N for the input shaft seal is P/N 905206.

Hale marine has both the lower seal and coupling seal for the 63iv cheaper than anywhere else I could fine. I also ordered a new bell housing for my 05 mcx because apparantly its a defective cast. I’m still looking for both speedi sleeves though.

Replaced my seals and no speedi sleeve was needed. output shaft had zero pitting underneath the old seal. I polished it up to where I could see a mirror reflection and pressed in new seals. My new bellhousing came straight from the Indmar to my doorstep thanks to Bakesmarine. Time to start putting my baby back together.

Getting so close to having her put together. Was doing an engine alignment and could not get my new transmision coupling tight enough because the old shaft splines were worn. Nut threads got boogered up and had to cut the nut off argghh.Lesson learned that if a splined transmision coupling is worn out so is the driveshaft. Waiting on more parts now.
