Thats right, Im using the original bellhousing and trans from the boat which had the indmar MCX SS.
I didnt know the top mount starter was because of the SS but it makes sense. I thought all MCX were configured that way.
I would like to keep the starter higher, but for now this seems simpler to get it running. I plan to pull the trans one day to clean up the mounts, I may consider replacing the flywheel then and using the top mount starter I have.
The new bottom mount starter looks like this and heres what I ordered.
