I'm looking into a used Sunstream VL7017 floating boat lift. Does anyone have any experience with them? Do you recommend them? I'd use it in a marina.

Currently it's not in the water so I'm hesitant since I can't see it operate.

I know sunstream is supposed to be top of the line. Iíve seen the float lift but not that one.

I bot a 6000lb one used last year. Works amazing...not cheap even used though! I got this one, not the V lift...legit 30-45secs to lift, nice and high out of water. Make sure to specify your boat to make sure cradle is high enough to clear running gear. Downside - its heavy with the boat on it floating around and attached to your dock with ropes or chains, so if its a floating dock w gangway to shore, check that ballast/chains...etc are good and secure. If ur in rough area, it'll pull the whole works around otherwise.

I have a 6000lb Sunstream, and many many around me. They are great lifts, and very well engineered.

Does anyone around you have the V lift style. I just went on Sunstream's web site and couldn't find any info on it. I wonder is they still make it?

I haven’t seen any. But if the 6000 lb lift or the larger lifts are any indication, it should be a good product.

At my marina, there are 5 or 6 of the 6,000 lb Float Lifts. I have one of them. Its a 2006 (they were introduced in 2004) and it works great. I have not had any problems with my FL6000 lift. However, there is 1 of the Sunstream V-lifts at the marina and it has not been very reliable. I don't think they make it any longer.
