We're a large family (9 without sig others tagging along) and looking to get into a MC that skies as well as it surfs. Skiing may be a dying sport but we are trying to keep it alive and surf when we're tired :) Our lake gets super choppy, so a Prostar won't work. Maybe as the "second boat" but we aren't there yet. Hoping to find a larger boat that does it all. Unicorn?
Willing to accept some compromise because I know we're asking a lot.

Really looking for a way to understand all of the models and what they're best at, as well as any changes year over year we should be aware of. Has anybody compiled such a compendium?

BTW, you guys are all great. Hubby and I have been reading this site for weeks now trying to learn. Thanks for the "free advice".

I would really look at the X30 ... you can get a lot of people on there comfortably and it is a great all around boat. My neighbor has a 2008 X45 that has even more room and every summer they do a 4-5 person slalom run ... not the best slalom tug but it works meaning larger boats can still pull people for recreational skiing

Make sure you do an in water demo. What is your dock situation ... meaning are you loading up people for the day or do you have the ability to go out for a couple of hours, come back and switch?

We have a dock. But usually pack up for day.
Curious about x15 v x30 - is length only difference?

Yes, but I think the 30 does everything just a little better.

What years are you considering? Price range?

This holds true for 2005 on I think (Aric will fix what Im wrong about)
= means pretty much same
~ means similar size wise

Traditional Bow
X1 discontinued 20
X10=xt21 Current 21
X15 discontinued 22
X30=xt23 Current 23
Xt25 Current 25

Pickle Fork Bow
X2=xt20 Current 20 pickle
X25~xt22 Current 22 pickle
X35 discontined 23 pickle
X45=x46~x24 Current 24 pickle
X55=x26 Current 26 pickle
X-star 03-11 22 pickle
X-star 13-17 24 pickle
X20 20 pickle has no equal
X23 23 pickle x22 may replace
X22 22 pickle may replace x23
X-star Current is bad a$$ nothing like it
Gets more complicated if you want to know 2004 and older

I was gonna say XT25, 25' boat with a crossover hull

My vote would be an x23 or xt25 or xt23. I feel the 22 foot ones would be too small for your needs.

When referencing the X30, keep in mind that there are different hull runs. '05 and earlier, '06 - '12 (iirc), and '13 - '17. There is a pretty big difference in the designs. I'd want to stay with the most recent model. It will do everything better than its predecessors.

Agreed.
