I recently purchased an 02 x-star and it came with a second brand new in box cover from Carver industries/covers direct. The existing cover is in need of cleaning so I decided to put the new cover on while I cleaned the old one.

Opened the factory sealed box and found the packing slip from 2012 with the correct year/make/model and part #11029A. Installed
The cover on the boat and it has a weird portion at the rear like it was meant to cover an outboard engine.

Anyone used one of these covers? Am I missing something? My existing cover fits great, covers the platform, and has minimal Velcro. This doesn't fit, has miles of Velcro around the tower, and the reinforcement for the windshield rub area doesn't line up.

I have a bucket and crate on the platform holding the shape of the rear portion for the picture

I recently purchased a carver cover for my 197 with mini tower. Mine fits pretty good! added bonus is that is fully covers the swim platform.

Have you tried calling them and explaining whats going on?

I would say that somehow that cover got mislabeled. It definitely is NOT for your boat. Maybe a Mastercraft barefoot boat or some other boat with an outboard.
I have a Carver cover for my 05 X2 (same hull as yours) and it fits perfectly. It has the cinch strap under the rubrail like the OEM covers.

So after some more looking it appears as though this cover was put back in the box my current cover came in with the receipt for my current cover.

I found chalk markings on the underside of the new cover that would indicate it's for a 21ft outboard, now I just have to call and figure out what make model and put it up for sale.
