Looking for some extra shade when floating (not when underway) and haven't seen many options. Saw this photo online that looks like a possibility, but not in love with it.

Anybody have a product they've found that works well? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170418/f1ff354c54a4a2890ad51eb4f433828a.jpg

On really hot days I would put the bow into the sun and hang towels off the bimini. Keeping the windshield and dash from heating up really made a difference. Yet to see an add on bimini that I would want to add to my boat.

^You can also get those inexpensive C clips to keep towels hung off the bimini.

Larry used a patio umbrella and inserted it into the ski pylon hole with a PVC sleeve for extended trips to Havasu or Powell in the desert sun. It's somewhere in his X46 Surf Edition thread.

I bought an AnchorShade umbrella for the really hot days. It goes up quick and stores easily. I only use it while at anchor.

Check out Sunbrella fabric.

I just purchased a 8' Triangular shaped piece with grommets at the corners. My plan is to attach the narrow point to the bow eye using a adjustable strap and the other two points to the front of the bimini.

Currently I am still looking for a solution for the Bimini mounts without modifying the Bimini fabric. Been looking at velro, Tent clips, C-clamps.

We got a thing like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Sport-Brella-Versa-Brella-Position-Umbrella-Universal/dp/B00HPMJCW8

Doesn't cover a huge area but a person can curl up and read etc..

Pic of that in action? It seem like a no factory bimini or tower for one to work?

Thats my Umbrella thing...
on the X30...you will use the SKI pole insert
Get a pc of Schedule 40 PVC from Home Depot that a little LARGER than Ski Pole HOLE
CUT PVC to about 12-14" long
Using a TABLE saw or what ever you can get....RIP a slot the LONG way down the PVC pc.
Test in the SKI pole Hole for fitment.
The PVC will compress and hold the STANDARD Umbrella Pole tight enough to hang out.
You will Also need to chop the umbrella Pole down to desired Height.. Wood Pole Umbrella worked best

I am with you on wanting more shade. If I ever have a new Bimini made, it will go from the base of the windshield and cover the back seat. It will not look like a sports car but will feel a lot better. It will still look nicer than some of the ugly towers and ugly gel schemes out there.

I made some of these from PVC pipe cut into 2" long pieces and then cut about 1/3 off diameter to make a C clip that snaps over bimini tubing......

I bought a 6' x 8' section of black patio shade fabric from Lowe's and a half a dozen spring clamps. Depending on the sun's direction, I will clip it to the front or rear of the standard bimini and either let it just hang down or clip it to the rear ski pylon. It's nice and compact (keep it all in a small nylon stuff sack) and pretty effective for about $35. Despite how transparent it looks, it's actually quite effective at blocking out the sun without becoming a sail.

Those look nice, but I'm looking for something that is only up when we anchored and lounging. Something that might also shade the sunpad.

Have been looking at doing something similar or trying the patio umbrella idea, I'll have to think on it for a while before I decide which way to go. However, one thing is I will have to keep the sunpad clear and be able to allow the kids to use the swim platform for getting in and out of the water/boat.

I have seen these used on some go-fast boats in the area. They work wonderfully and stay up well even in moderate wind with the anchor straps. I think they would work great with the pole stuck in the ski pylon opening.

Why none of the wake boats have employed sureshade is beyond me. Must be design hurdles I don't fully understand. Selling like hot cakes on just about every other type of premium boat. http://www.sureshade.com/bowrider-boats/

Looks like they do have a tower mount: http://sureshade.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Tower-Install.jpg

pricey, but best looking option I've seen so far.

Thread revival: I just bought an Anchor Shade as we seem to spend more time in coves floating for the afternoon. Wanted something to shield us from the sun (and rain when needed).
I look forward to setting this up with the factory bimini somehow:

I have an anchor shade, itís a good, inexpensive non-permanent solution. The hardware that comes with it (ropes/plastic hooks) is super flimsy, and likely to break. But, still holding up after 2 years, although now would be a good time to replace it! In my 205 I position it just behind the engine box.

I had a teal one from the old boat I would have given ya if I would have known. Since your MCOCD is like mine I doubt teal would have worked for ya.

I posted earlier in this thread about the 6x8' section of backyard shade fabric I carry with me. With 5 short bungees, I can attach it over the bow or the main seating area. I've even driven with it mounted behind the tower up to 20 mph. Given its small footprint when not in use and the shade it provides when deployed, I love it and it is a lifesaver in the Arizona summer. Here is a shot from inside the boat. I lightened up the photo so the faces of the people in the photo are visible so keep that in mind.
