Very nice! We looked very closely at the GS20 at Sun Country a couple weeks back. The only downside the wife could come up with was the bimini. The Z5 looks MUCH better than the flippy flop stock bimini.

I cancelled my PTM Racks today
$3600 gets me a couple weekend vacations to the Havasu... did not feel right
Gonna try Z5 or Giant rear lockers 1st.
I may take the Roswell Racks off all together

Congrats Larry, not only is the G awesome, but you somehow found Coastal and Z5 Rack?! She was meant to be.

If not already there, add the piggyback bags to transom which has bottomless capacity. It's the only thing I noticed on my neighbors G21 and G23, they just didn't bother only using below decks ballast and left a ton of wave size out there.

I'm inviting myself on your boat at Batiquitos.

Cheers

Nice! Seems like a small deal, but it was noticeable how quiet the surf pipe and perhaps the Seadek makes the G's. It creates a real social craft especially for a surf crew, and a bonus upgrade for the sound system.

It is my 1st Nautique.. been following them since we started boating 2013 when the G23-25 where launched.

I think most reasonable people would agree/say MC and Nautique come down to a few deciding factors
-Dealer/Service in there area
-Boat Styling
-Availability/Price

These boats are very close in Quality and Performance a few pluses and minuses as you go back and forth.

This year...I really tried to stick to a few parameters including a SS or Coastal Boat
Those are rare out here on the West Coast , unless you order new.
I found a few MC and CC Salt boats around the country, but final pricing to get to me just did not work out... among a few other misses.

I will post fare comments, good and bad.

H5 is offered in Coastal (Closed cooled) and regular Models.
Direct injected similar to Ilmore 5500-6000 models
380 hp? 400lb? I think
Yes 2:1 on a Giant 17" prop.

… One goofy thing in the G 21, that is not A problem in the G 23 – G 25, or really any MC

The cooler, G 21 does not have the in floor igloo, like it's a big brothers.
And the 2800 pounds of subfloor hard tanks, prevents using a igloo under any of the bench seats.
So they provide you with a custom igloo soft sided cooler that fits underneath the bench seats. Not horrible but our igloo was already barely big enough for our daytrip's

Yeah that really sucks. The under floor cooler in the G23 and G25 is sweet. No making people move or get up to get under a seat to get to the cooler. Will a YETI or RTIC fit in the rear locker?

The rear lockers have bunk bed sleeping accommodations for two small children on each side.
The problem with the cooler is it will be really far down for convenient beverage grabbing.
I am studying the situation

Only other downer you will notice on the G21 compared to your past MCs and the '16+ G23, and G25 is the bow spray. '13-'15 G23,25 had the same issue. I was surprised that they didn't change the 21 when they did the 23 and 25.

Only complaint I had on my 21. It's bad. But you learn to live with it, and it's almost welcomed on the scorcher days :D

Oh...... and in my 21 I had two little tool boxes in one of the back compartments. One with tools, and the other had my flares, flashlight, etc. (coast guard stuff)....... basically, the stuff I had to have, but never use. I put some extra sea deck material that I had on the tops of them, and stacked a hard igloo on top of them. It elevated the cooler to a very comfortable height, and boat sodas were easy to retrieve.

I was thinking of something very similar to that, that would elevate the igloo and one of the back lockers.

yes, I was a pre-built JL 2 x 12" SUB cube.
I had it tuned pretty low 60hz, Keeps the sound really warm even at low volumes, Inside and Outside of the Boat,
I am hoping to have a little bit of Bass at Wake surf length without killing everyone in the Boat-
They are slaved to the Tower JL control volume

Got out on Mission bay for the 1st time yesterday at Sun up.
Crew was-
Local WakeSurf instructor Marco.
Local Regular Skim Style rider Lisa
Local Newbie WakeSurf 1st time student Devon
Myself.

Me and Marco spend 40min on the Bay Changing Ballast and my Lead around based on some tips from other owners.

G21 - NEEDS to be Counter weighted by 200-400lbs to PORT for Good Regular SurfWave.
this is a know fact amongst G21 Surf owners.
*I will say the Younger guy at the Dealer I worked with was forthcoming with this Fact/Rumor PRIOR to my purchase.
17x17 Prop and 2:1 trans , Short 21 V Bottom, all contribute to this issue IMO.

I only got a few pics as I drove most of the Morning.

WetSuit is Lisa Skimer
Red Shorts is Devon newbie on Longer Board- She dropped rope on 3rd Pull out.

Wave review? TBD... But my initial feedback from Marco and Lisa was more than Positive.
Marco owns a SS Axis T23 and a Freshwater Centurion F something, he stated the Push was better than either of those Boats he has set to Surf.

I rode a Bit at the end, and was also happy.

Still some tweaking to do.

PICS below ...same ole story " don't do it justice".....lol:D

Not knocking the boat.. but I wonder how much the salt really effects how you can ride.. I'd bet it feels like it has more push than normal because of the buoyancy difference..

Larry can you ride in fresh water?

Be curious to see the difference using the same boat, same rider. Same set up..

I posted nearly your same comments earlier..
My understanding is both the Boat and the Rider are more Buoyant... so the wave is Harder to produce,, yet easier to ride... I'm no expert, just kinda guessing.

I did ride on an AXIS T23 and SAN 210 a few times last summer, on these same waters.
Both Surf System equipped.
This boat is def no those Boats

I actually dropped the boat in a local lake on my Way home Sunday to de-salt Motor , Bilge and Ballast tanks.

Dropped a JL 2x12" SUB port Locker (free 90lb ballast)
Changed Factory JL M 400/4 Tower Amp to a
JL M 1000/5 Amp
this was a Direct Bolt in swap as Factory Board and Wire was pre-wired and drilled for larger amp Chassis.

4 ch bridged 2ch for JL Towers
1 SUB ch Powers 2x12" JL drop in sub

Factory JL M 800/8 continues to power 6 x JL in boat speakers and 10" JL sub

took 1hr to swap and re tune

SUB is absolutely effortless and so nice at all volumes

Larry, you left MC for this type of wave?

I ride a 2014 G a good bit and always thought the wave was average. Even the owner likes to surf my boat more than his. Now his wakeboard wake is just flat out crazy.

Was thinking the same thing. I saw some of Larry's Vimeo videos on his x30 and the waves look awesome, very clean. G's are very nice, especially interior build quality. Never been in a 21 but neighbor has a 15 G23. MC all day!

....I looked at and Shot a lot of SurfWave's over the past fews years...I can tell you one thing...looks are deceiving,....

I would not mind getting behind an X23 someday though :)

Looks are very deceiving. I use to think I could slam my X25 and get a comparable wave to the X23, but after changing to the X23 I realize I was wrong. The X23 wave is bigger and the amount of push dwarfs the X25. Not trying to thread jack, just agreeing that looks of these pictures aren't everything.

Update...
We've had the boat almost 3 mons now.
Put about 75 hrs on it... we use it every weekend, sometime 2 days..(more than any boat we've had)
Did 50 hr service $700 :(
V-Drive broke , PCM sent new...Lost boat for a weekend of use.
Trailer brakes and Axle were defective, new Axle and All new end units brakes installed , lost boat for another weekend or 2

Figured out some good settings for various riders in out group SKIM and SURF style ...Mellow thought steep...speeds 10.7 through 12mph.

A few skimmers don't want any Ballast at all..or just a bit 10-15%
I use the Most Ballast.. SURF Style 70% Starboard 100% port 15% Bow.
I have some lead on starboard.
No extra bags at all.
No bow ballast is really needed I the 21 model.

Fuel Burns is around 4.5 GPH over the course of many 5-6hr sessions.

I have damaged 2 PROPS so far on my Prop Guard , very tight fit...car wheels almost need to be in water even on Steep ramps... My fault ...but still...

Couple fit and finish items dealer is addressing in the Fall (when Im done with Boat)
stereo is really nice , I added a Big 2x12 JL Sub and Larger JL 880 Towers speakers.

Dash with Touch and Joystick only is working out OK... would like full Time BALLAST/TAB display window.

I have the base H5 Motor, it is plenty, it is quiet.

to Cruise, the boat needs PORT wt /ballast or the massive 17x17 prop will cause boat to List to Starboard,
Steering pulls hard to RIGHT for the reason.... kind of a pain.... not over this yet.

Interior is very soft and nice.... but it seams to hold creases and dents... they go away...but its not like an MC...

I really like the Low Shade, storage of the Z5 Cargo Rack.
Boards Racks are terrible for a $100k boats... bungees..blah

Good vs Bad .... its a nice boat, I may actually keep it... we are putting on 10hr a weekend right now.

Great and interesting review, I only had one session behind a flaming (stock weight only) new G21 and was rather unimpressed, compared with G23/G25.

Goofy surf wise I would take an XT21 over the G21 despite not liking the size and single bow of the XT21.

The trailer accounts for several of the complaints and most downtime, which I'm guessing is a local thing based on the fact that SB's are built in Cali. Don't think you can hold that against Nautique. There is no excuse for the bungie board racks. V Drive broke? Thats not good.

True-! Did keep the 2 problems separate, but the SUM was the boat at the dealer for 3'weeks.
I've had similar amounts of time down with my MCs ,and trailers.
Boats are more like new homes than new cars, they are hand built and quirky.

The PCM V-drive thing was a Fluke based on my research. Could not find any records or chats about it. Dealer and PCM scratched thier heads , but FedEx a new unit and got me on water

Great review..Impressive wave

I like it a lot, but I ride regular And Surf style . Goofy side is Larger and steeper.
But,Most people in my group ride Skim style and want the Less steep ,mellow wave.
That is still a work in progress as the AXIS we ride with has a naturally better Skim wave.
The G is naturally Tall/Steep.

If I sell this.... it because I'm done.
I have already been out on it a dozen times or so this season
Family has been out twice.
I'm going to go as much as I can this summer and see how I feel.
... I can always go back to Golfing. :(

You'll be "done" at the end of the year.......and then change your mind with spring fever. My money is on a new boat next year.

well now he will keep it just in spite of our comments. I give him two years max, he will come back to MC (minus the new speakers).
