A friend of mine is looking at a Hewitt hydraulic cantilever lift . It is a 4800# lift and he has a 3700# boat. I know very little about hydraulic cantilever lifts but figured there is an expert somewhere on this forum. Any info is appreciated.

I picked up an older Shore Master hydraulic lift this past winter. Just make sure the pump and motor is working and the hydraulic cylinders aren't locked up. I bought mine for $300 knowing it needed work. Price also reflects the fact I had to get into the frozen lake and risk hypothermia. I took the pump/motor and cylinders to a local bobcat mechanic in town and got everything working for under $400. I also bought new hydraulic lines from from ShorMaster for $250. All in I'm under $1000 for a really nice lift. I plan to remove and store the pump/motor, lines and cylinders during the winter. Everything is held together with large stainless steel pins and cotters. It is all pretty easy to disassemble.

Sounds like you "created" a really nice deal for yourself.
