Decadence. Doesn't hold water, nor smell weird and looks better between the two. Never will go back to carpet.

Decadence. Only problem I've found is that it can get hot sometimes.

Loewen
04-06-2017, 10:11 AM
"hot sometimes" is a legit concern. The carpet does not get hot. We are on the lake in 100+ heat a LOT. Swimdeck can get scorching on current X25 padding. How "hot" are we talking here?

I'd get decadence but without a logo, shield or other pattern. The adhesive used can be really hard under bare feet. Perhaps it's a QC issue.

how is it held down?

how does it feel on the feet?

does it stretch move around?

wallnut21
04-06-2017, 01:13 PM
It just lays down and doesn't move around. It has a tacky feeling on the backside that sticks to floor well. I'm always nervous about trailering with it because nothing is holding it down but I haven't lost it yet. Feels AMAZING on feet when it's not hot. It doesn't get as hot as swimdeck in direct sunlight but it's not comfortable. Only a problem when you're sitting for along time in direct sunlight. With people getting in and out a lot with wet feet it cools it off nicely.

I removed the snap in carpet in out boat. After just one season of nothing you get used to it. The fact that I can was the inside of the boat down on the way to ramp is awesome.

Loewen
04-06-2017, 01:25 PM
Key phrases I took out of that were: "when it's not hot" "doesn't get as hot, but not comfortable" "only if in direct sunlight" We have MC shield carpet in the current X25. Never gets uncomfortable hot. Getting an X23 and making some decisions... it is really hot here in the summer. Thanks to everyone for the input, but sticking with carpet. We store uncovered in a shed when not on the water, so everything dries out nicely. No carpet smell and it doesn't stay wet long. Going with carpet for the same reasons we are going with white with a little light gray interior. It will never get hot. 105 in direct sunlight, I don't care if it is coolfeel or not, it will be uncomfortable/hot if it isn't WHITE. This state is an oven in the summer!

would love to not have carpet, but can't keep things from sliding around without it. I realize carpet still lets things slide a lot more than decadence, but still less than no carpet at all. I didn't realize how wonderful WHITE was on a boat until we owned a deck boat years ago with white upholstery and white, no carpet floor. There was a hint of gray in one part of seats that would be blazing hot in the sun, but the white was always comfortable.

is there a pattern for a 205V you can have them cut? or do you need to do it yourself or pay $$$ for the dealer to do it?

wallnut21
04-06-2017, 04:48 PM
IMO the advantages of Decadence greatly outweigh the heat issue. My carpet got hot too so it was an easy decision for me. My idea of hot could be very different from yours too.... keep that in mind.

up here we are lucky if the sun comes up high enough to warm the deck let alone make it hot.. probably would feel good because it's so damn cold here... :D:mad:

Carpet sucks everywhere. I hate it in my home too. Its like keeping a sweating and dirty gym sock around every day for years. Wet, cold, dirty, hot, sweat, food, beer, etc. Yuck!

I wish I could put Dekadence everywhere (cars, home,....)

We went straight to the decadence..... No snaps in the boat etc.. hasn't moved an inch as it has a backing on it. Got tired in the old boat (yamaha) of the carpet smell. as much as we liked the carpet on the feet, no matter what I did, I couldn't get it to smell normal.

Haven't had the decadence out in the hot south east sun yet... but with the bimini I don't imagine it to be too bad hopefully.

What about hair? I spend a ridiculous amount of time pulling a ridiculous amount of women's hair out of the carpet after a week on the boat. My biggest hesitation in switching to Deckadence is how badly that hair might get intertwined with the strands of Deckadence. Any thoughts or experience with the hair issue?

FWIW, I pulled my snap out carpet on day 1, and just put down a couple of nice shower carpets down. The white fiberglass doesn't really get hot, and I can clean the flooring with Babe's boat soap and a hose. EASY:)

Can't get Deckadence in Australia unfortunately. I've asked every dealer as well as Matercraft Aust and a bunch of rubber and plastic manufactures but no love. It's an option on new boats but you can't source it for older boats. Bummer! I'm in the process of getting it shipped via Jim (Jims Marine Flooring) from the US to here just to get it. But unfortunately I need to do a template dor my X-15 and send it over. Bummer x 2

All can be washed out - but the hair gets caught in the carpet and the pressure washer doesn't even come close to getting it out. So is Deckadance better or worse with the hair?
I'm definitely MCOCD - but surely others must battle the hair in the carpet issue! No?

This is why I got deckadence. My carpet was all matted and filled with blueberry stains. No more stains from the little one. Dropped a piece of ice cream cake with green frosting a couple weeks ago. Pulled the flooring out, dunk in the lake and right back in. Good as new!

See if you can find some with the logo and try walking on it with bare feet. They glue the dark sections to the lighter sections. Forms a bit of a harder spot under foot. Some folks don't care, and some folks care a lot. To each their own!

I'm a bit skeptical of the spray dye. This stuff is meant to not absorb and stain. Seems like the dye would not hold well.

You're not going to get permission from MC, Deckadence does have a video on youtube of how to do your own logo and it looks extremely simple. I'd say the price you got is about right, just depends on if you want to save a little money and cut it on your own or not.
