This is my first post on this forum, have lurked for years but now would like some advice from others. I find myself in the fun situation of looking for a new boat. A bit of background, my last boat was a 1999 Mastercraft X-Star and it was a great boat, but it has been sold to a friend and I am looking for a new boat. I am about 90% surf, 10% (or less) wake board usage, will never ski behind the boat, and I have young nieces and nephews so yes maybe a touch of tube time for fun with them.

I have narrowed it down and found a 2016 X23 and a 2016 NXT22, both boats are new, both with full warranties. There will obviously be a price difference between the two. I am just wondering which boat everyone here would recommend. Would the bang for the buck be greater with the NXT22? Or would the ease of setup and added resale value, when the time comes to sell, give the edge to the X23? Has anyone surfed both boats? and if so do you have comparisons that you would talk about?

Edit.....and misspelled the thread title, couldn't figure out a way to edit

If you have the means to go after the X23, you will not regret it. Its a great surf boat. The NXT22 does better with added weight, but obviously will save you lots of money. Look for a good deal either way, you'll love both.

X23, I've surfed both. Big difference. X23 is the top surf boat even outside the NXT series.

Well if you can afford the x23 by all means go for it. But if you can really only afford the NXT22 thats still a great boat. I'm 270 pounds and surfed behind it fine with stock set up which means its has a ton of push. And people here are getting them tricked out. I am only chiming in here because its nice to talk about a audi A8 and how great it is, but a VW GTI is a great vehicle as well. And the comparison i think is pretty spot on. You get the MC Build quality out of both, and the NXT surfs better then all the other boats i demoed last year in its price range and it surfed better then a couple of the "premier" boats i surfed as well. And of course the X23 i have not had the pleasure to surf behind. But its a Premier boat in the MC line, so ya a better wave a better computer to control the wave, more detailed ballast, but of course every new option you can think of and a price tag to go with it. Just my 2 Cents.
