2001 x30 all gauges work when out of water but while on water it cuts in and out. I can jiggle the wires and it will sometime work again. Tried to find a. Short while out of water but always works then. Where should I look for loose connection? Suggestions. Thanks

If its all the wires check your plug at the mmdc. Check to make sure the connection is clean

Most likely cause is a bad ground connection. Check your grounding terminals, and wiring.

What wires are you jiggling to make it work again? Look at your MDC (The black box on the kick panel at the driver's feet). On the 18 pin connector you should have ground on the black wire, constant +12 volts on the orange wire and ignition switched +12 volts on the purple wire. Confirm that those have proper ground/voltage.

That 18 pin harness "feeds" the MDC power, ground and the signals from the various senders. The 5 pin harness that connects above that is the output to the gauges. Black/Yellow should be ground, Red/White should be +12 and Yellow is the signal bus wire (You can't really test that with a multimeter and might do damage if you try). The blue wire joins this harness later and is the switched +12 volts from the NAV light switch for the gauge backlights.

Here's a troubleshooting guide for the MDC/Medallion Gauges:

If all else fails give up and do what I did:

Try it now. I accidentally copied the truncated URL from another post. You might need to refresh.
