As I continue my search for a new boat, seems my price range keeps me in the 2006-2008 models. Which models should I be focusing on in those years that produce the best wakes for the mid $30's-low $40's?

X1 will be the best boat in your budget. it is probably one of the legendary best in wakeboarding wake. you might find a 06-07 x2 in the upper end of your price. the x2 wakeboard wake is not as good as the x1 but the surf wake and room are better.

You may be able to find an '06 X-30 in the 40's. I have no personal experience but from what I've read it's a good wakeboard and surf boat.....with lots of storage and a large cockpit.

I was searching in your same price range over the winter and I ended up going with an X1. That said, I think it comes down to whether you surf more or wakeboard more. If wakeboarding is your main focus, then an X1 is great. If you mostly surf and occasionally wakeboard I would take Jerseydave's suggestion and look for something like an X30.

I wanted to have a boat that would have a good wakeboard wake and surf wake when I was looking to upgrade from my x5. Landed on the x30 and have been very happy with it. I have heard that those that are way more talented than me complain that the wake is a bit wide for wake boarding but it doesn't bother me. I also considered the body of water I boat on. It can get big and I got beat up enough in my old x5 and decided I wanted something that would handle some chop.

I picked up my 06 x45 in the mid 40's. with the 1100 lb sac in the rear locker, factory tanks, and a few friends it surfs great. I just ordered 2 more 400lb sacs to make it even better. My friend who is a pretty good wakeboarder said he thinks the wake is comparable to his other buddies 2012 xstar. I have no input on that cause I've never wakeboarded behind an xstar. The x45 is super roomy as well so you can pile in the friends and family and still be comfortable. While it may not be the best for eithor of those I believe it does a fantastic job.

My 2006 maristar 230 with X package is a beast! Big water and great wake boarding, but the surf is off the chart!

I would say it depends on the size of boat you want! X1 and X2 in those years are great. Also the X15 is a very under rated boat. If you are looking for something I bit bigger then look for a X30

I would second the X15. I've been really happy with mine.

I think you could find an X15 in your price range and that boat seems to do all well, although I don't have any personal experience. Are you on a small lake or larger body of water? If you are going to be spending all day out on the boat, an X1 will get cramped quickly by the time you load it up with a few people and gear.

An X-30 (06+ and up) would be a good boat as well but might be hard to come by in your price range.

X2 for sure. They have more room inside the boat and have a better surf wake. However, the X2's are also going to be $40-$45.

I wanted an X2 bad but ended up getting an X1 in April with 260 hours for ~$30. Couldn't justify spending 33% more for the X2. Was out on the the lake for the first time this past weekend and enjoying the new boat!

The X15 really is a great boat for both surfing and wake boarding. Very under rated. You would be very happy, but will probably be looking at a price range of $38 - 42k.
