Has anyone heard about a new fuel pump design for the mid to late 2000s boats? I am having the fuel pump replaced in our 2006 xstar and the dealer is waiting on a wiring harness from the factory since supposedly the fuel pump is a new design and the old harness will not work.

Sounds odd.. You would think that if they redesinged with somethng that required a new harness it would come with the new pump??

I'm not 100% sure on this but I was told there is a new style pump by the dealer that I got my x star from. Mine has the "updated" pump since the original failed on the p.o.

I do know that gm did update the fuel pumps around 98~ In the trucks that went from 2 connectors to a single connector and usually all the new high quality pumps come with the harness.

I just went through this exercise when I replaced my original fuel pump (2008 X-2) with the new style pump. I ordered the new pump and received it in one day but noticed the new wiring harnesses did not match the old harness. My dealer said the adapter was back-ordered 6 weeks so we ended up adapting the old harness to the new pump. We did not have a wiring diagram so we disassembled the old pump to trace wires. Not a difficult task and it works great.

Good luck

Found this on another forum. " got me the latest MC fuel pump module. Vast improvement from an engineering perspective. Dual pump motors for redundancy. 5/16 by 5/16 lines to the tee, 1/4 by 1/4 from the tee to the regulator/check valve. Filters that might actually filter and a design that might take advantage of the tank's full capacity. Better! But I still need a source for 1/4 submersible fuel hose to be able to completely service the pump." From July 2013 so it looks as if these new pumps have been out for a year. Mine is being installed at the dealer so will not have the chance to see it before it is installed but I will ask the service manager what he knows when I pick the boat up.

From Mastercraft Teamtalk July of 2013, "Lastly, I talked to Rambo Marine today, and asked if the pump assembly had been replaced by a superior solution yet. He said that within the last few months MC has changed part numbers and redirects replacement to a different pump for several of the models. My 2006 according to him now points to a different assembly for replacement...it is MC part # 155202 and he said the sticker on the pump assembly says millennium industries 3633-01. The one he had in stock had a mfg date 6/14/11. He said it was a dual pump solution and required a wiring harness change...have to purchase a $32.95 wiring harness...not sure what that looks like. The price on the assembly is $529.95 (ouch)."

There's one on ebay for $195: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MASTERCRAFT-BOAT-155202-DUAL-PUMP-FUEL-PUMP-MODULE-MILLENNIUM-INDUSTRIES-3633-01-/331089534088

I was told by MC they now have two pump modules in the pump and it would require a new harness adapter.

Is the harness available online somewhere?

Mastercraftdepot.com has the Millenium pump harness. They also have what looks like the pump but it is pn 155206 instead of pn 155202.

Is this the harness I need to make the dual pump work in my 07 X45?

Just picked up my 2006 Xstar with fuel pump replacement. I talked with the service manager about the new pumps and wiring changes. A new Millenium pump is not speced for our boat. The replacement is PN 155208 which looks like the old pump canister but the service manager said it has a new pressure regulator and might have a new type of pump but it is not a double pump like the Millenium pump. I think the Millenium pump is for newer boats. The fuel pump was $579 and the millenium pump lists for more like $700. The new module does need a new style of wiring harness. You can either get the adapter, which is the one that is on the Mastercraftdepot website, or you can get a pigtail with the correct plug for your existing wiring harness and hard-wire it to the pump. This would eliminate one set of pin connections that are known to go bad. Hammer, I think that your X45 would take the same fuel pump as our does since it still has an Indmar engine and so you can either get the wiring adapter or do the hard-wiring. I don't think you can go with the Millenium pump. The service manager at Norcal Mastercraft said he does not really think that having two pumps to burn out is better than one. He said that they have not had any of the newer fuel pumps come back since they started replacing them. The one that was in our boat was the original so was seven or eight years old. If the new one lasts that long then I will be OK with that. If it fails in a year or two then I will not be happy.

Pimp,
Have your dealer call John Ramus at Norcal Mastercraft in Pleasanton, CA. He can explain to them how he hardwired our pump since we could not get the adapter either.
