Hi Guys,
I know the new xstar is heavy, but does anyone have experience pulling it with an Expedition or F150?

Either of those would pull it just fine.

Pulled mine with my f150. It did fine.

I tow with a 2007 Expedition ... although my boat/trailer is less weight than a Star, I have no doubt it has plenty of power and vehicle size to handle the job.

My 2010 Expedition, is rated for like, 10,000 lbs. I sometime, pull trailers, at about 7,000 lbs.

It pulls, my 205 like it's not even back there. As with any heavy loads, it's the stopping. Properly set up trailer brakes.

I borrowed my buddies 2007 Expedition to tow my 2nd gen X-Star and the IRS made the back end feel a little less stable than my F-350, but overall pulled just fine.

I would rather tow with a 1 ton while towing but every other day I am not towing I would rather have the Expedition.

True, true. But for all intensive purposes, a regular f150 should be better for towing. Stiffer suspension and such.

I do certainly have plenty of power for the job :D

I'd agree with that. Of course, it is speed dependent. At 65 and less, not an issue.

A live axle, will can handle very heavy towing better.

I pull mine with a 2006 Expedition. No problems at all - of course, I thought my '98 Explorer pulled it just fine too...

our last tow rig was an expedition. it was the limited edition so it came standard with the tow package. iirc that included trailer sway control, a tow/haul mode for the tranny, and a heavier duty transmission cooler. it towed my x30 and my 25ft pontoon pretty well for an SUV. i can't remember the exact number but even though the tow rating was 9500# i think the manual specified 6000# as the upper limit without a weight distributing hitch. i could tow the x30 at pretty much any speed and not really notice it was behind me. the pontoon is very tail heavy with a 53 gallon fuel cell and 750# outboard hanging over the rear axles so it would sway when you got close to 70mph. it only got bad enough once for the trailer sway control to have to kick in, but it was neat how the car steadied itself. i really wanted to hold out for the new '15 expy with the ecoboost but the boss wanted something smaller.

The 2013 expedition limited tows great never a prob I've even pulled out of the water a few times with the stock ballast full. Oops!!! When we don't have the camper on the f350 it's my tow vehicle of choice.

My 1999 Expedition tows my 2002 X-30 just fine fully loaded with 60 gallons of fuel and other items. I put a 400+ hp supercharged built Ford Lightning crate engine in it but even before the motor swap it did good over a 4,000 foot high mountain pass.
