I've got all my ballast supplies together. Time to drill some holes. Anyone add ballast to a 2005 X-10 or Maristar 210VRS ??? Trying to find 2 places to drill holes in the hull.

Options:
1) underneath the engine on port or ballast sides (I see stringer fiberglass on top of hull inside, might be a void between the stringer and hull)
2) around the front of the v-drive (very tight area on this boat)

Thanks

Rob

I think your engine bay is pretty much the same as my boat. I drilled two on either side of the engine about 6-8" in front of each motor mount.

Then I drilled the third on the port side right between the engine and transmission:

That was the area I was looking to put the two holes. I'll have to look again and take some picture. I asked wakemakers, and they ask for pictures also to suggest a location.

What is your boat??? Looks close, at least I'm hoping.

Thanks

Be sure to use the magnet method to verify before drilling- much Safer then measuring!

Thanks, I purchased a set of 3/4" x 1/4" magnets from amazon that fit perfectly in the middle of the thru hull fitting, to see where it lines up underneath. The video on youtube from wakemakers influenced that purchase :)

Genius !

I would never have thought of that :)

The magnets are a good idea. They'd have to be pretty strong as my hull was like 1 1/4" thick. I would have been better off if I had drilled that front hole about 1.5" further towards the stern. Where it is it touches the end of the bunk and tears the carpet. I need to trim off a little of the bunk and re-carpet.

The rare earth magnets from amazon worked perfectly on neighbors Supra ballast install, and I have tried them on a interior door. They are very strong, very difficult to pull apart, but wanted to test how far apart I can get them and still attract each other.
