Cleaning out our garage last weekend to make room for our new to us X2 and my GF calls on her way home from running errands. "I'm five minutes away...I'm going to pick you up to show you something". She takes me for the short 2 block ride to the lake to show me this...

The first truck (yellow one) went in first. So what did he do? He called his brother to come help him out (blue one). There was quite the line of cars driving through the park to take pictures. We were thinking what a couple of dumb a$$ kids. The next day I look on the local paper's website to find out that they have to be in their late 40's to early 50's!!! Follow the link for a priceless video.

Driving on ice in April. Now I'm not a northerner but that sounds like a bad idea to me...

Born and raised in Minnesota and have driven on countless lakes. Never in April though.

You've got that right. No excuse for being out there now.

"I wasn't scared."

Apparently they should have been scared. Those two should be thankful they're alive!

I guess insurance pays for that? I've always heard that apples don't fall far from the tree. Surprised they didn't call their dad to come pull them out!

I am not sure is insurance pays for this.

Quite a few insurance companies don't cover the vehicle with standard coverage (gotta love the fine print). Besides that the DNR requires that they have 30 days to get the vehicle out of the water and pretty sure are fined for every day that it is in the water.

I was Burbot fishing last weekend. Still 30" of ice on my lake. *sigh* I wish we were at the point that it was dangerous.

Not to be the guy that wrecks a good "idiot" thread................. because we all love them......... However this is a problem with society these days. Most people will stand around and take pictures or videos rather than "help a brotha out". Baffles my mind the videos I see daily that people are more concerned with tweeting or youtubing hairy situations than actually helping people out.

I usually stop to help morons. But some times, its best to just let the social darwinism take its toll... lol

If authorities had issued any warnings in regards to staying off the ice, they certainly wouldn't have coverage, regardless if it was actually in their poly. We've had people run into issues up here with their atvs etc, and they weren't covered.

We have no lake travel warnings up here. Have since the 10th of March.

We didn't get a great freeze to begin with. The town didn't put any of the usual winter activity builds (hockey rinks, the speed skating oval and regular skating area) out on the lake as a result. They actually didn't even do the polar bear dip in the lake this year either. Just got so much snow and not child enough weather, ice is quite thin. We have been warm the last week, and had one week in the middle of March that we had a lot of melt a well.
