So my long wait finally ended last night...my new Yukon finally arrived. Wow, what an awesome truck! It looks so freaking nice sitting next to the old body style...very sharp. The interior is amazing, definitely the biggest improvement overall from the '14
s...the 6.2L engine is strong and sounds pretty cool as well.

That thing looks bad-arse! Congrats on the acquisition.

80k?????? Are people really paying that for a GM product?????? If ford asked 80k for an expedition I would get quite the chuckle. So does this mean a platinum escalade is gonna be around 100k canadian for you guys? yikes.

I do see a new escalade in my future if I have more kids than a cayenne can handle.

GM has really closed the gap on the higher end competitors. Sticker was $75k but pretty much everybody can negotiate supplier pricing to about $69k. I cannot think of another vehicle in its class (big suv) and price range that comes close to what this offers. There is a ton of great new product out there by all the manufacturers, it's like an arms race similar to $100k boats a lot of people find crazy! Cheers!

It's a 2011 Turbo S...the TTS only comes with the PDK, which by the way is pretty awesome. It's stupid fast...I just sold my Z06 that only comes in a manual last fall that "felt" faster, but this is a whole different level...0-60 in 2.7 seconds you can feel your brain pushing against the back of your skull! I'll see if I can dig out some other pics...

You want a stable of toys one day don't waste time in college.

Second tip, it's not about toys, it's about time and freedom. Plan a career based on time and freedom, not toys.

Unfortunately college wasn't a choice in my family, hence why I go to a pretty easy college and Im graduating early to get out into starting my own company ASAP. I know I don't want to spend all day every day working, spending time with my family will be my top priority. I still will want a Porsche, even if it is an old 928 GTS. lol

Well my favorite saying is that it usually takes 15 years to make an overnight success...I sacrificed a lot in my twenties and thirties to build a business with my partner that does well today. College is definitely not the determining factor of success (admittedly I went to school for engineering)...not being willing to fail is significantly more important IMO. That, and don't have debt...

Thanks for the thumbs up though guys!

I ordered it in Dec. so I could get one of the first ones...thankfully I got one of the handful that made it out of the plant. The 6.2L is on constraint and they are not accepting orders currently with all the stuff they have going on. So at least for a few months I won't see myself coming and going! The regular yukons started shipping in Feb., the reason I went for the Denali was the bigger engine for towing, plus the whole it looks bad *** part...

OK, completely off topic (to a degree)....on the Corvette garage. What kind of lights do you have above? Are they can lights and approximately how many do you have? I am RIGHT in the middle of lighting for our garage and laying them out. My wife want a LOT of cans and I'm pushing the limit of the Dimmer/circut. I'm at about 16 can lights but could go more! I may have to go with LED's to handle the number of lights!

Anyways, sorry for the highjack! Just had the garage cabinets installed yesterday so I need to install lights probably tomorrow.....

Thanks!

To answer the lighting question they are just simple two bulb fluorescents over eac of the three spots in the garage...

Towing...well lake is still frozen so I can't comment to that.

Interior...this is the area that by far blows away the previous generations...you need to go check them out, wow is about all I can say. I'm hoping on a plane now but here are the only interior pics I had a chance to snap:

In the US most 2015 cars will be released by summer of 2014. Some wait till the fall but a lot are out by summer. You can even get a 2015 Mastercraft probably by August!

If I'm not mistaken, they are the 22" 7-spoke Silver Wheels (SF1), or the 22" 7-spoke Silver Wheel with Chrome Insert (RXN). I can't tell in the picture. They look the same other than the chrome insert on the OD of the rim between each spoke.

The reviews I have read say it is fantastic. That is well worth it specially if you tow since it holds your speed you set even descending hills. With that being said, most of the reviews were on the new '15 HD GM diesel trucks and the exhaust brake and brakes would work flawlessly to hold your speed trailering very heavy loads down hills.

Ordered mine today with those same 22" rims and painted inserts. I couldn't decide if I wanted I spend the money so the dealer just said he'd order it in and if I didn't want it when it came in he'd sell it to someone else.

We own a trapline that we spend quite a bit of time at which involves off-roading to get to, that is, no gravel and deep ruts. We'll go there easily a dozen times a year. Also, spend a bit of time climbing mountain logging roads in BC. I'm looking forward to the hill descent mode. On my older Denali the low range isn't quite low enough and I've literally lit my brakes on fire twice coming down. I've been above the tree line several times with it.

I'm not rich or anything that I can just wreck nice things but believe these things are meant to be used. I have 3 kids now anyways, nice things don't stay nice. And I use my towhooks on my Yukon now all the time. I let people step on my seats in my X25, and they can drink or eat whatever on board.

Literally in flames? That's impressive!

Hill Descent Control still uses the brakes/abs system to control wheel speed, so I'm not sure you'd be in a different situation with the new truck. Deeper low range gearing could help but it seems unlikely they changed it.

They were smoking pretty bad so we stopped to let them cool. Sure enough we look and there are flames a foot high. I'm a professional firefighter and I mitigated the situation using a case of bottled water from the cargo area. No regrets.

to answer a couple of the other questions: yes, with adaptive cruise you cannot have tow hooks. & Chrome strip is on the power retractable steps that are an option...but if you get power running boards the strip is on every one of them. Yes it has HUD...all Denali's do.

I was going to order a '15 Denali, but thought I'd left the first wave of them get out first so that the builders could get used to building them and work all the bugs out.

We have a 5.3L '10 suburban with the tow package (trans cooler) but it is underpowered. We pull 900miles one way to lake Powell every year through the mountains. I run between 3-4k rpm the whole way and my trany temp floats around 200F and occasionally spikes to 210F which is when I pull over and let it cool. Nothing will ruin a week on the lake like breaking down on the way there and not actually making it to the lake.

So my 2010 suburban and the '15 Denali both run the same transmission with coolers, but with the bigger engine hopefully I will be spinning lower RPM and thus creating less heat. (Driving slower is not an option.). Any thoughts. I figure if I still get hot I will add a second trans cooler. They are only a couple hundred bucks. To protect a couple thousand dollar trans it's probably worth it.

Also while I love the captain chairs in the middle row, we really near the 60/40 split bench. It's listed as an option on the website, but I can't select it. Does anyone know if it is available?

My buddy next door just got a '15 Yukon, the next day he took it back and traded for the Yukon XL SLT his is black and look very sharp too. It's gonna be funny when we have to almost identical trucks parked right next to each other. Biggest difference is in the rear view mirror, he pulls a Malibu and I get the MC.

Morety
04-11-2014, 12:50 PM
The dealer has several more options when you order than show up on the online build feature on GMC's website. You can get the 60/40 rear bench as a no-cost option, but you'll need to order that. Most Denalis that I've seen have the second row captain's chairs.

^We pull with a 2007 Denali now (2013 X25 plus all our gear) which puts is very close to our GCVW through a mountain pass about 800 miles each way. Lots of ups and downs and long hills/descents. Never an issue. Hottest I've ever seen my tranny temp get is 90 Celsius (194F) while towing on a day that was almost 100 degrees through the mountains. I think my 6.2 revs around 2.1K on the flats. Just set tow/haul and go. Plenty of power. The 2007 Denali's 6.2 was de-tuned to 380HP I believe as they wanted to create more exclusivity for the Escalade. I imagine the 2015 with it's better HP and much better torque will be a dream. Also consider the gearing. The 6.2 are 3:42 and the 5.3's are less, which will affect RPM. Last pro to the Denali is the auto level function. Your boat and vehicle will tow level whereas non-Denali versions will ride back-end low.

When I priced out a loaded SLT was only 5K less than a Denali.

I finally picked up my Sierra Denali with the 6.2 - it is a BEAST! Love this engine - averaged 17 mpg over the first tankful. Line-X and window tint tomorrow.

beauty! The tint always completes a black vehicle. Nothing looks better than a clean black vehicle - for that 5 seconds before they look dirty again :D. Loved my last two black vehicle.

That 6.2L must sound real nice. The 5.3L in the 2014's is so quiet, the wife really likes that - me not so much.

Awesome looking truck & I love those wheels! I was thinking of getting those, but I think they look sweet on a truck but not as much on the SUV...

I am with you on the loving the 6.2L...it hauls a$$!

We got one as well. They are WAY nicer than the previous generation. They get better gas mileage too.

If I could..... pick up both the Lamborgini and the 67 fastback.....nice dream.

QQ what is with the "project Cars", heavily modified so they are no longer street legal?? <-- specifically interested in the GTR *boss just bought his second and would love to relay the story on the "project" version you have listed.

They are 100% street legal I just have them titled as projects so people know they aren't for sale. I can build your boss a GTR. Email me if he has any interest.
