I have a lead on a x80 with 8.1L 450hp. Do these big of boats put out a good surfing and boarding wake. Says it is stock 1000 pounds of ballast, how much more would I need? Think I would love the room, my wife would love the head, just trying to think if it's to much.

I'm guessing its not a twin screw? I've watched plenty of videos of people surfing behind these boats. Put some more weight in them and I can't imagine you'll have a problem. Just the sheer size of the thing displaces a ton of water and will make a nice wave behind the boat.

It surfs fine, but the wakeboard wake is very washy if you are not riding fast, roughly 25+. If you can, I would go with one with twins as it makes driving and handling the boat easier.

thats a big boat for a single screw. not saying its a bad boat, just a big boat with a limited resale market with a single motor. have you considered an X55? same layout as the X45 with a head.

The only reason I am considering this one is because I can get it in the mid 40's. It's older but low hours on it. Don't think I can touch a 55 or even 45 for that price. My limit is 40, thought I might be able to convince my wife for a little more for the right boat. I love the size, but just wondering if to much for a mooring spot and dry storage during the winter.

Need to have enough truck to pull that 80.

Plus you can legally trailer a 45 or 55. The 80 is too wide, needing a permit each time if you want to trailer it legally. Just sayin'

That's got to be a PITA.

Legally towing, in Cal you get a permit 1time a year for X80
Not a pain...
Surf wake was nice on the twin we demod
You will want a real truck to tow often.
A heavy equipped 1/2 ton will get u around town.
Mid $40k is about right for old single screw... Tough resell.

Good luck.

FYI - we almost got this boat... We did not.... Got an X30 and not looking back

Do most x80s stay at the marina year round?

But yes it would be a pita, I would just have to take the ticket because getting a permit to drive 40 likes would aggravate me!
