Here's what I know (if accurate?)

Late 70's LTD....how many were made?
1988 Platinum Prostar (100 built)
1993 25th Limited (25 built)
1993 Stars and stripes (how many blue, how many red?)
1995-1997 Sammy Duvalls (how many?)
1998 30th Anniversary (30 built)
2003 35th Anniversary (35 built)
2008 40th Anniversary Prostar (40 built?)
2008 40th Anniversary X-star (40 built?)
2011 PARKS X-star in black (how many?)
2011 PARKS X-star in white (how many?)

Fill in the blanks if you can.
Any other rare MC's? Powerstar maybe?

Pretty sure the LTD was a 1981 only boat.
Any '76 and older boat.
1977 - first year of second generation hull. Production of roughly 100

1980 was the year for the LTD it actually has LTD in the serial number.

I have owned two of the 1995 SD and even the factory could not give me a number in 1998 I was asking them while doing a factory tour they said the package was an option just like the LT-1
my buddy still has his 95 SD

1993 Stars and Stripes was also not limited in number, anyone could pay the upcharge and get one just like the SD.

What about the Super Slots? Or the Holman Moodys? Chrysler 440s?

Late 70's LTD....how many were made?
1988 Platinum Prostar (100 built) Skidog will know.
1993 25th Limited (25 built)
1993 Stars and stripes (how many blue, how many red?) I think 200 of each color.
1995-1997 Sammy Duvalls (how many?)
1998 30th Anniversary (30 built)
2003 35th Anniversary (35 built) I believe 32 are 197's and 3 are 190's
2008 40th Anniversary Prostar (40 built?) I think its more than 40
2008 40th Anniversary X-star (40 built?)
2011 PARKS X-star in black (how many?)
2011 PARKS X-star in white (how many?)

Sammy's personal boats and the Disney boats had to have Mercruiser power for a while there because they were also a sponsor. Seen a couple of those for sale linked on here.

I believe they produced a total of 45 2008 40th 197's, at least that is what I was told by a person at the factory just after I purchased mine. There was not a limit placed on these but I do not think they were all that popular, could be wrong. If I recall correctly without looking it up, I have number 8.

I just cannot see how those I/O's skied worth a damn with so much weight on the transom. Wonder if the fuel tank was up in the bow to offset the weight?

Don't know how deep you want to get with this, but there are custom builds all the time too. Like the night jump 197s with the HUGE reflective graphics and big motors that popped up in the For Sale thread last year, and Marcus Brown's all flake Rasta 197. Would be a daunting task to find them all:

Don't forget that nowadays pretty much every boat is custom ordered by a dealer or a customer, so nearly every boat can be claimed "one of a kind". It's a little different than it was back then and the special edition boats.

Green was available as an option for the early years of the Stars & Stripes boats, just not real common. The engine box in my '77 came from a green flake on white '79 that got caught up in a tornado.

the 07 TT boat is by far my favorite. Just because of how unique the graphics are for it compared to all other MC boats. Really hate that I sold mine but got sick of it just sitting in the yard and not being used because I couldn't find someone to drive.

When compared to things like the 70s Jump boats and that one-off I/O, yeah, I think they're more common. Beautiful, but I wouldn't be dumbfounded to see one on the lake.

My understanding is that MC never offered a supercharged motor to a retail customer.

Keith St. Onge's Pro Star and one other speciality boat had a supercharged 6.0s.

This is KSO's supercharged boat.

http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/attachment.php?attachmentid=39596&stc=1&d=1219930814

So there is only one left (apart from the X80 with twin supercharged engines).

http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/attachment.php?attachmentid=27878&stc=1&d=1190769941

I was mistaken about the 8.1 being supercharged.

The BEAST was an 8.1 in a 190 that made 450 hp.

Back in 2000, my wife and I went to Detroit for the Pro WaterSki and Wakeboard stop.

There they had a 195 with the 8.1 liter that pulled the slalom skiers. That was the first 8.1 liter put in an MC. I talked to Skip Gilkerson (sp?) from MC at the torunament and he let me check it out. It was really cool. That was the first "beast" boat MC made. Was still in R&D stage as what Skip had said. Very light boat with a very big engine. :D

Johhny's 2003 197 has the Cadillac motor in it with a supercharger. IIRCC, I think his boat puts out 520hp...that is a unique MC boat for sure.

Intersting to read this thread with all the different color, motor, accessory options MC has offered.

Like Eastie said, all our boats are unique. Shows the true love we have for them as this thread has grown in the last couple days.

I know a former owner of a 2001 190 with the 8.1 engine and a hood scoop. No supercharger though. It went through two transmission replacements early in its life under warranty...so it's on its third one. It was sold shortly after the third transmission so I don't know any history after that.

I think you guys are right about the supercharged boats being the 6.0 liter.

This boat had been for sale for quite sometime. BAW's had it. I made a few calls back and forth when it was. Considered it for sometime, even made an offer that was accepted. But, never pulled the trigger. Had been in salt, apparently the original owner weighed in at 300 lbs + and use to hammer it up and down the lake. All I could picture was the drivers seat stressed to the max. Look close you can also see where the driver had to be pushed back as far as possible and was supported by the engine cover. Understanding there was not a lot of room because of the beast of a motor. They did do a good job buffing out the motor box where they rubbed together but, for those reason I passed. Jim was even going to get it back on an original MC trailer. What good man he was.

what about this ? has the 8.1l

Can we add the 40th Anniversary X14 to the rare MC list? Production number = 1.

I'd say that's about as rare as it gets!

The facility was in Peterborough, Ontario. I forwarded your question to Rob. I will reply once he gets back to me.

This was an effort at expanding the brand that didn't work out well and was shut down in short order. Master Craft Boat Co. LTD Canada had an address of 822 Rye Street Peterborough,Ontario,Canada

There is a ton of information available on the early boats from 1968-1985 on The Mastercraft Project on Facebook. Rob Shirley and Gary Mahler are active on that page, as well as a few other guys who are well versed in the early years. It is a private group, but getting in is no problem.

I have no idea how many of these were made, but you don't see them very often. They were only manufactured for a year or two.

390hp Indmar 454 from the factory. My boat has a slot. 425hp HO 454 was an option this year too. All stuck on a Tristar 190 hull.

Maybe they're second tier cool compared to some of the others, but I'm rather fond of it.

I don't know how many of those were made either. I've definitely seen a handful over the years. As Pete said, yours is definitely the nicest I've seen.

You definitely have brought that boat back from the grave! Done a fantastic job with it.

Last time I was long-line behind that boat was July 5th 2009 with really bad hangover!!!

I used to own a Powerstar 200. I think they were made in 1997, 1998 and 1999. Only 175ish were ever made!

It was a cool boat! Didn't handle as well as the Barefoot 200's that i've owned. More of a family runabout than a high end barefoot boat. My favorite memory of that boat was during a dealer sponsored river run. All the inboards were cruising back at 30-35mph and i was blowing past them like they were standing still at 55-60mph! That boat hauled ***!
