Does any one off hand know what the inside diameter of our 1 1/4 hose is? Is it in fact 1 1/4 or does it run larger? I bought a Sea Water Strainer with 1 1/4 thread and got the barbs for the hose, but they seem really too big to fit inside the hoses.

mine are 1.25 - heat the hose up to make it soft and it should slide over the barb to make an air tight seal.

That's what I thought. The 1 1/4 threaded end fits fine, the end that goes into the hose is
1.4 across the barbs and 1.32 behind the barbs. I think I may have to go to the next size down on the barbed end.

The Sherwood Sea Water Strainer. I had that before on my Nautique and really liked it.

It is a bear to get the raw water hoses over those barbs. Like Mike said, heat the hose in near boiling water for a minute or so, then slide it over the barb. Some force is required.
