So my two girls and I went to the Denver Boat show yesterday.....had a great time! As we were walking around, I stopped by the Tommy's shop booth and they had some Radar Boots, Skis, etc. there and also some guy helping people out.

So I began my conversation telling him about my Goode 9800 ski and my 12+ year old boots attached to it and he was like, "why do you have those boots on that nice ski?!?" I'm like, that's all I could afford at the time. So he understands......

I try on a few of the Radar boots and really liked a few of them but the Strada was too small and they didn't have my size. No biggie as it's wintertime but will most likely do something this summer. Anyways, had a nice conversation and he was helpful and a nice guy. After we were all done I said, "So, are you some sort of great skier out there or what do you do?"

He replied, "Well, yea, I am a skier and work for Radar. My name is Chris Sullivan."

I felt terrible because I've heard his name a ton.....I just didn't know what he looked like! Arrgg! Anyways, I felt like a heel but laughed it off after figuring out who he was.

Great guy and told me about his 83 S&S he just bought. Said he really likes the Mastercrafts and I think the 83 was one of his first boats he grew up on so that's why he got it.

Anyways, great time and a little embarrassed but really had a nice time!

Swung by the MC booth and met Jeff again and his TT 197.....just a beautiful boat with that red metal flake! Also had a great conversation with a sales guy on the 214V. Super nice boat but I'm still concerned there is a slight sacrifice compared to the regular 214. I sure do love the extra room though compared to my 205.

Overall, real nice time up there. I still don't like the quality or fit/finish of those Tige's  Just so different than the MC's in my opinion.

Jeff I've got an extra spot in the garage up at Priest-it would save you from having to tow a new boat back and forth from Hayden to Colorado ;) Still a couple of more weekends until the boat show in Spokane, but I'm sure my girls will go and check out boats with me. I'm interested to see how big of show Stancraft will put on now that they are the local MC dealer.

Chris is a good guy. I've bought my last two Senate's b/c of conversations that I have had with him. Too bad I didn't pay more attention or pick his brain about bindings. My old Senate had Rail bindings. I didn't know you weren't supposed to lace up the tops too tight. Prevented me releasing from the ski and really messing up my ankle. Did he go over how to lace up the Strada's?

Yes, in fact he did tell me about not lacing up too tight. He said that was part of the "release mechanism." I wish I picked his brain just a bit more but it was at the end of the show and he had mentioned he was going to be catching a plane in a few hours back to Seattle.

Pictures are uploading to Photobucket......I'll have some up in a few hours.

From what I remember....X45, X25, X2, 214V and 197 TT .

Wonder why they use boatmate trailers?

We have been ordering a few BoatMate trailers lately. They are very nice trailers and currently are the best value for our customers that want to have 18" wheels and wide fenders. I think they look great. What do you guys think?

I had Boatmate build a new trailer for my '04 XSTAR and absolutly love it. Sorry to say MC, if I buy a new boat I'm ordering another Boatmate. I have some good shots of the runway lighting at the ramp in my classifed ad, but really makes my XSTAR look brand new...

I like them. They make good trailers. I like their runway lights. I have a boatmate under my 2011 Malibu.

I must of missed you Alan, maybe next time.....but I spoke with a guy about the 214 and 214V for awhile and he was really nice. Who is this guy?

That is Nik "Shorty", our lead service tech. He is a tremendous asset to us at S&W and one of the most skilled guys in the business.

Sorry I missed you. I was probably busy working with the couple that was in the blue X-45. Funny that you got that picture because they are the ones who are buying it!

Wonder why they use boatmate trailers?

Built just as well as a MC trailer, has a few nicer features available (ie. aluminum diamond plate on surfaces that you step on, instead of rubber.), And costs about $1000.00 less than a compareable MC trailer.

On top of that, boatmate will bend over backwards to build your trailer just like you want. For instance, my new boat is fire red flake. Mastercraft will only do viper red for the trailer (if you want a red trailer). They will not try to match the color for you.

Boatmate went out and found a Fire Red flake boat, and used their paint match camera to mix a fire red metallic paint for my trailer.

Boatmate also did extensive research to see if they could match my truck wheels on the trailer.... Sadly, the wheel manufacturer does not make that wheel in the correct lug pattern, or offset.

They do, for sure.

That's funny! I didn't want to interupt those people so we never got on the X45......they looked pretty serious. :) That was a cool looking blue/grey color scheme. Congrats on the sale, that must be great for you guys!

Great show and I must say, there is something about the 214V color I liked. It kinda grew on me.....

Because their tandems do not blow tires like the mc trailers do?

They're in Post Falls about Seltice Way and Hiway 41-so instead of 10 minutes it'll take me 20 minutes to get to the dealer. I've seen a lot of their wood boats over the years at the wood boat shows at Priest and Coeur d'Alene. I spoke to one of their guys at the Spokane show a couple of years ago about the Ilmore power plants. Mastercraft had just started offering them as a choice and the Stancraft rep told me at the time that they had been using them and absolutely loved the Ilmore motors. There was a rendering of a wood X boat that Stancraft was going to produce floating around I'll try to remember to ask them if they've started on any yet.
