Wait, I swear the 2012 X-star was a pickle fork? Must be the angle of the image.

It's definitely a pickle. Saw it at the factory not too long ago. What's hard to grasp is exactly HOW BIG the pickle is on this boat, pretty sure the bow itself is bigger than my x2. Probably made it look like a pointy bow.

I think its just the angle of the photo. Here is another photo from the same web site.

I like how they tied in the retro stars and stripes.

Saw this boat on an episide of pawn stars and immediately thought of the new Xstar design... Maybe their inspiration for the change came from a 1950's Seaflite boat! :purplaugh

I can't wait to see a production unit.. that boat going around is still a prototype. Zane mentioned on FB that they have made some tweaks to the design based on a dealer meeting in Orlando. Production unit to be good for the Pro wakeboard Tour....

It's definitely still a pickle. Look at the Part that has the graphic on it. That comes down but then look in just a little, there's the black section that looks like it goes to the boat buddy/winch. The picture is decieving probably because of the black hull. If there were two different colors on this boat it would be much easier although the top deck looks like a regular bow, it's probably just a bad angle on the picture.

Unfortunately I showed up a little late last night, so i only got to see the boat in the dark but it looks amazing. The interior is unreal. I was a little surprised to see that it doesn't have any underwater gear. I'm assuming the whole "prototype" thing might have something to do with that.

Tow vehicle was pretty sweet too.

Probably so they could lay the boat on the floor at the surf expo....

The innovation of the boat is cool but I think it's the ugliest thing. Maybe it's the wrap and the interior that looks like a basketball. But I think with the dip in the hull like a 57 Chevy is downright hideous and the tower doesn't do **** to compliment anything.

Ouch. You have to at least give them props for being original and innovative. It might not do anything for you but i think it's the absolute baddest thing out there right now. Give it awhile, it may grow on you.

Ps I still want to see the production graphics they're going to come out with...

Does anyone know what boat shows this "prototype" is supposed to appear at? (Preferable in the Northeast)

Not exactly what you were asking, but MC confirmed last week on FB that the new Star will be at the Atlanta show. Starts this Thursday and goes through the weekend. FWIW, they will have a new X-30 there as well.

I'm actually in Atlanta this week through Thursday. What time does the show start and where?

The x-star was not at the NY boat show last week, but the new X-30 was.

The Atlanta Boat Show starts tomorrow (Thursday) at the Ga World Congress Center. Thursday is "Family Day" and you can get a free ticket at http://www.boatatlanta.com/freetix.php

Otherwise, the tickets are $10.00. I talked to Mike D at Watersports Central and they will have the new Star, the 30 and Zane will be at the show too. I was planning on going tomorrow, but it will probably be Friday or Saturday night before I can get there.

I was thinking of the same boat when I first saw the new design.

Winter has set in on wakeworld......

The thread went from a benign discussion, associated with the picture at the begining of this thread, to an ugly b_tch slap festival (half way down page one all the way to page 2).

^ for sure! Some of the points they didn't discuss were construction techniques, fit, finish, materials used, inovations, and most importantly how will the boat hold up after 10,15 or 20 years of use?

There are plenty of fine examples of MC's (and CC's) from the 80's that are in pristine condition. I wonder how many of the other brands can claim that their boats will last just as long?

I try not to argue with the people on Wakeworld. They love their Tiges and Axis boats way too much and are convinced that MSRP is what people actually pay for their boats.

I went over and started to read that thread....now I have a headache. Supreme construction means more to some than others I guess. Now if I can just find a bottle of Excedrin.

Mastercraft was a different company back then. Under the right owner,I bet a 1993 Prostar will out last a 2012 Xstar. The PS will still be trouble free, while the Xstar will be all hung up on the out dated electronics and gizmos.

Cost is an important factor over there. Rightly so I guess, someone able to drop the cash down on a new MC probably doesn't care if the electronics will be outdated in 5 years, they'll have a new boat by then.
