After many months of searching, last week I took delivery of a 2001 Prostar 205V. I purchased the boat from the original owner and it is in great condition. We drove it home 450 miles with no issues and we managed to get a few hours of boat riding in over the weekend; it was cold (45F) but we loved it. The boat runs and handles great.. Thanks for all the info..

I'm no expert but what I have seen the Maristar is more of a luxury boat with a little deeper hull and 6" wider beam. The 205V shares the same hull as the Prostar 205, early XStar and later the X1.. it handles better and the hull throws a better wake for skiing.. it has a pretty good wakeboard wake as well. They both run the same engine and transmission configurations and have about the same features.

I'm sure there are other differences but these are what I noticed comparing the two.

Welcome to the family. Great first boat.

whats the difference between a prostar v and a maristar?

but nice looking boat.

The maristar is a much wider boat. It rides a little better in bigger water. It has little better trim that the 205v in most cases as it was geared towards a more luxury feel. Performace wise the wakeboard wake on the 205 v is still considered to be one of the top level wakeboard wakes in the industry. Compared to the 210 the 205v wake is much more crisp, hard, and vertical. The 205v
handles like a sports car.the boat tracks as close to a direct drive boat as any v drive can. The 210 drive more like a Lincoln town car or a caddilac. Smooth but not so responsive. The 205v skis above average as well. Until the x14v it was the best skiing v drive hull in the line. The only performance aspect the 210 wins out in is the surf wake. Pure due to its size. The pocket is longer and the wake is bigger on the 210. The 210 has much more storage and much more room and does everything mediocre. The 205 v is more of a performance hull but is super tight on space. The other huge thing is the 210 will take way more weight to get an intermediate level wakeboard wake from than the 205v

To sum all that up..:..if you are looking for boat to entertain, hang out, cruise around, surf, and occassionally wakeboard and the 210 is the boat. If you are looking for a boat to wakeboard behind almost every time you hit the water with an occassionally cruise the 205v is the boat.

Where in S. Louisiana. I don't recognize the bridge and bluff. My family is from north of Alexandria. Nice boat. Enjoy. Could be June before I am allowed to load up my arm on the rope but the boat will be in the water by April at the latest.

We are in Baton Rouge but the bridge pic is when we picked it up in Austin.. under Hwy 360; the river pic is on the Diversion Canal

Yes, my family and I love it here in Austin. Grew up and lived in Baton Rouge 36 years. Wife and I both went to LSU (GEAUX TIGERS). I found my ProStar 200 on consignment at Bent Marine in Metairie. Ran it Thanksgiving morning on the Amite from Fred's. My brother lives in Prairieville and cruises the Amite and Diversion Canal in his Cream and Orange Metalflake '77 Glasstron Carlson.

Enjoy your MC. Maybe see you out on the river one day.
