I'm going to check out a 2001 X-Star next week. The owner says that is has a 330 Mercruiser engine. I expected the Indmar 330 LTR. Did MC ever install Mercruisers, or should I suspect this boat has been repowered?

Get him to text you a pic of the engine.

I don't think MC used mercruisers ever......def not in 2001
It's probably repowered or the guy just doesn't know what he is looking at.

BTW, a Merc 330 should be a 454 big block.

I always heard that a few ski schools had MCs with Mercs. Sammy Duvall down in Disney being one of them.

Sometimes folks get confused because the 330 LTR was its own unique animal

At times Sammy Duvall's location at Disney was required to run Mercury. Disney had a contract with Brunswick. Notice all other boats even today with the exception of MasterCraft are all from the Brunswick family of boats. MC was required to run Mercury. Maybe 20 boats out there in total where running Mercury
