My 2005 orange X-Star was stolen a couple of weeks ago from my driveway at my lake house on Castle Rock Lake in Wisconsin. The bast**d took the boat, trailer, skis, ropes and whatever else I had on the boat. If anyone sees a 2005 orange X-Star for sale, buyer beware! It may be my stolen boat. Feel free to contact me if you see one for sale.

That stinks. Does insurance cover the loss?

Posting pics of the boat would help. Also, have you contacted all dealers within a reaonable area? As noted, set up an account, so anyone who has potentially helpful information can contact you.

Brutal. Get some pics up, it'll make it easier for people to keep an eye out for it.

You'd think an orange X-Star would be hard to hide.

There's a black/orange one on Lake Monona in Madison, WI. It's been there for years. I'm wondering if it's the same or if there have been any modifications that would make it easier to pick up on at a glance.

Maybe you can sent the hull number to mascraft to let them contact all the dealers to be aware of this. If you have the hull number or can find it somewhere.

I'll post some pics tonight. I have already contacted all the dealers in Wisconsin & Illinois about the theft. Now they are all bugging me to buy a new one. I set up an account so that I can be contacted. Thanks for all the posts.

I would give Corey at Midwest Mastercraft a call. They are located in the Twin Cities and would sure keep their eyes open. 800-625-9666.

Sorry to hear about the boat.
Wouldn't it be kind of hard to sell a stolen boat, especially to a dealer?
Hell, it took me 3 trips to DMV in VA just to get a title for my trailer when I bought my boat in MI. They wanted a blood sample and my first born male child!

No good---just remember things come around...
As far as how easy would it be to sell?? My guess is if it isn't just some punks looking for some joy-ridding, and it's pro's, I'd figure it's in a crate headed out of the country...???

Or there will be alot of 2005 Xstar parts for sale this winter and an orange hull providing fish structure somewhere. Where's the guy that needs a MCX engine?..............sorry
If it was me, I wouldn't put any additional effort into finding it other than reporting it to the police. My vanishing deductible might dissapear, but I could buy one heck of a boat with the insurance settlement.

My only experience with a large theft was when my truck was stolen years ago, and my insurance agent had a pretty short time frame until they would cut a check. Were you insured sufficiently and how much time do they wait for recovery?

I was insured, but the payment won't cover the cost of a new X-Star. I have to wait 30 days before I get the check. It still sucks. I loved that boat.

Was there a lock on the ball/hitch ?

On rare occasions I have to store my boat outside.. I use a lock and block the boat in with my truck. Even though I live in a nice safe neighbor hood.. that is where the ******* go looking.

So sorry to hear about your X-star (I have an '05 myself, black/white)

You should post a stolen thread on wakeworld and wakeboarder.com too.
You may want to notify the guys at inboardsonly.com as well and keep checking that site yourself.

Hope it turns up for you!

Sorry to hear it. Hopefully they are found and punished accordingly. I think the guy above me meant www.onlyinboards.com also stolen things show up on craigslist as well. I'm sure the police are looking into all of this.

They got 4 other detectives working on it down at the crime lab!

You all watch too much CSI...and you should be thinking Cold Case.

Hope it works out, that completely sucks. I keep my boat on a trailer at our lake cabin all summer, and lock it up along with chains through the wheels. But I know if they want it bad enough, it'll be gone. I always have that feeling the driveway will be empty when I come around the bend on a Friday night...so I can imagine how that felt.

Perhaps the boat is already on a container ship heading to Russia... Not inconceivable!
