Hi all,

So I'm out in the boat and it has stopped running and won't kick back over, it was running fine before hand. This has haPpend before and I just had to wait 30 mins and then it was fine and ran no worries.

Any ideas what this could be? It's not hot, and has a full tank of gas

What year and how many hours?

Fuel pump would be the mostly likely if this boat is 4 years old or older and it was running great and now cranks but does not fire.

But certainly other causes.

Check your Saftey Lanyard
1. Does the engine turn over? if it doesnt check the battery, starter wires
2. Do you have spark when cranking the engine?
3. When you turn the ignition key can you hear the fuel pump hum. The pump is in the gas tank so you might have to get close to the tank to hear it

Let us know what you find

Check your saftey lanyard.

Yes thats the first thing to check. Sometimes its the smallest things that get overlooked!

My 2008 did what yours did this spring. It was the fuel pump. Seems to be a common problem according to this site and my dealer.

The ground wire came loose on my fuel pump which caused this situation on my boat. The problem was intermitent.I pulled the pump out and found the loose ground nut.The heat generated by the bad ground started to melt the connector that plugs into the fuel pump. With the key in the on position,I could get the pump to turn on and off by wiggeling the plug.

So I have had a bit more of a look and im thinking the fuel pump is dead.

The motor is turning over but just won't fire. There is no fuel pressure in the injector rail.

But wen I turn the key it does make a hum.

I pulled the pump out and all the wires seem to be in place.

The boat is a 2007 and has 280 hours.

Whats a good alterative to a genuine pump? as i've heard they are super expensive.
