Looking into a boat. Seller stated that first run of the year the freeze plug blew out while underway. What would cause this?

The engine probably had a little frost damage from the previous winter and when he went to drive it, the water pressure and heat pushed out the plug, I remember reading on here someone had the same issue and he replaced the plug and all was good...

I'd bet the freeze plug was push out during the winter and he didn't catch until he was out on the water.

You'll want to check and make sure the mufflers and the exhaust tubing isn't burned up on the inside. Try squeezing the tubing, if it's soft and brittle or smells burned it might be bad.

I had it happen to my 91 first run after sitting winterized for over a year. It blew the freeze plug out, shut her down as soon as I heard the buzzer. (WEAK buzzer when running at speed), nothing came about it. Put a new plug in, never had an issue. My top end gasket change came after I chewed a impeller and blew a head gasket, but no damage to the heads/block. The boat runs like a champ and never reaches over 150 tops.
