Almost Sank the X-Star

The day before I blew out my knee, I almost sank our '04 X-Star.
I went through some good size waves to go pick up my husband who had fallen and I did nothing different than I used to do with the X-10.
A wave came up over the front of the boat and we had about 10 inches of standing water in the boat. I was freaking out! The pumps got rid of the water pretty fast but when we got home we had to air out the boat (pain in the butt).
Has anyone else had this problem??? I am so afraid now when I see any waves. I am terrified. I don't want that to happen again. It takes me so long to pick him up now because I just let the boat idle and am afraid to move if there are waves.
Thanks.

I "punched a wave" with my tristar this past weekend with 3 kids in the bow and literally had to reverse the boat to get it to stop taking on water. Although it filled the bilge completely, I was more embarrassed than anything. Think I'm going to add a larger (second) bilge pump as it took some time to empty the bilge.

When I add a lot of extra weight in the boat I have to be very carefull when turning around. The rollers that are created when you slow down can fill a boat. Just remember to punch the gas and the bow will shot up over the top of them.

Someone at our dealer told us that you can cut a Mastercraft in half and it still won't sink!!!

When the rider falls, pull the throttle to neutral, and allow the boat to slow down to less than 5mph. Calmly turn the wheel, put it back into gear at idle, and go back to get your rider. Your wake will harmlessly pass you on both sides; everyone and everything stay dry; you don't create wakes perpendicular to your desired path; you don't look like a wally; and it's safer.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pristine, well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "-- WOW--What a Ride!"

There is enough foam in them they won't sink, but they will be darn close to level with the surface of the water. A Boston Whaler they are not.
