Sea Ray Boats Being Sold

I predicted (totally guessed) a while back that 2017/18 would be a peak year for Boats /Toys...
I'm starting to think I am right.
Brunswick getting rid of a successful brand , although the article suggest otherwise?

A smart move in my opinion. But thier reason may be a sign of a coming shift.
...is the writing is on the wall.?

One of my close friends, who works in the boating industry, was telling me about this yesterday. He said Brunswick is often the "canary in the coalmine" for the boating industry.

the article is pretty interesting.
sounds like Sea Ray is almost a burden to Brunswick.?
Who would/Will buy it?

Bayliner will likely be the last standing in rec boats, but they stoppped offering overnighters a few years back and let Meridian handle that class.

I imagine along with Boston Whaler, those will be the 2 Builders they keep.

2017 projected sales of $380,000?? If units were flat from 2016, that's $152 per boat. I'm either missing something, or the article is written incorrectly? Regardless, wow, what a drop in units over time.

I think we will see further consolidation in the industry for certain, much like the auto industry has seen for many years. Malibu has just completed the acquisition of Cobalt for $130million too. Bayliner bought HeyDay in August 2016, and we all know the Brunswick story behind Bayliner. It will be most interesting to see if Brunswick picks up any other companies after they complete this sale too. They still own about 20 marine/boating companies.
