Ceramic Coatings

I was reading good things about ceramic coatings on vehicles. Does this translate to boats as well? Has anyone tried this or have any reviews? Does it protect any better than regular wax as far as shine and fade protection?

I did mine last season...there's a long thread on here about it. I love it...as my boat is black its always got water spots and shows everything. Looks polished after a wash, even easy to remove skum line.

Good to hear. Can you share the product you used?

So far Ive done my car and boat. The boat was done with Gteckniq as it was better at filling the more absorbant gelcoat. I had mine done professionally, but if you can devote an afternoon to detailing and prepping, its not that tough to do it yourself.
It will be interesting to see how long it lasts vs the 5yrs they advertise. My car has 2 summers and so far still looks good.

I would reapply a boat semi annually to be safe. Just like a car in salty winter conditions you cannot guarantee 5yr.. so go with semi annual

We use ceramic coatings as the premium protection for boats in our detail shop. They are by far the best way to protect your gel coat. We do many gel coat restorations and recommend the coatings to preserve our work the best. Like anything else they need to be maintained. Even with a coating I would recommend topping it each year with a maintenance product. We HIGHLY recommend coatings as the absolute best protection. Any more questions feel free to call us at 603 941 0123, PM me or email. Here is a video of a Mastercraft we did this week and coated with Gtechniq. We are accredited installers for that product and others.
