JK Wrangler 2dr tow CSX220?

I know a wrangler has HORRIBLE tow capacity but also have heard it is mainly due to the brakes and narrow wheel-base. Also, every situation is a little different so here is my question:

I live 1.2 miles to the boat ramp, have no hills (Its Florida and its suuuper flat), 4 lights and a tandem trailer with brakes. I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler 2dr (70th Anniversary).

If I were to have a brake controller installed and verify the brakes on the trailer work, how bad would it be for me to consider towing my boat between my house and the ramp.?
What if I decided to go to another boat ramp 1.9 miles away (over a bridge)?

Can this be done with minimal to no risk to myself, my jeep and my boat?

CSX220 weighs roughly 4500 pounds dry so lets say an even 5k plus trailer.

I look at the jeep like I do when marinas use a tractor to launch boats. I certainly wouldn't tow it on the road with a tractor. I'd be ok with the wrangler going the 1.2 miles, since it is flat, with little risk. Not so much for the 1.9 over the bridge. And the X25 is far exceeding the rated capacity of the wrangler, so even the 1 mile is pushing the envelope. Not sure how a brake controller would help. It is for electric brakes, and the boat trailer has surge brakes.

I've been skeptical of the weight on the CSX line. The specs from MC say 4300 lbs but no delineation is made as to whether that is a CSX with the tower or t-top or what, if any, options are considered in that weight calculation. I tow mine with a 2005 F-150 regular cab, short bed, 4x4 and it's a real strain on the truck. I had one instance where the ramp was very slick and the truck just started sliding and wouldn't stop until the trailer had actually gone past where the ramp was paved and buried its wheels in the muck. I would be real hesitant to use a Jeep for any towing.

I agree ^^ . Pulled mine with an 2012 f150 supercrew and I knew it was back there. And that was with the eco-beast (470 Ib-ft of Torque).

Spot on with boat Ramps being a little wet, I wouldn't want you to take the jeep swimming, unless you have a drop top.

Its not the brakes. Its the suspension on the jeep holding you back.
Yours is the short one, so it will exaggerate the problem.
The suspension is too soft aswell.
Jeeps are built purely to off-road.

That being said, make sure your 4-ways are on and do not drive fast at all! Its only 1.2 miles. Drive slow and you'll be fine. But if something ever happens and you need to make an emergency maneuver, you are more likely to be in trouble.

If I was in your shoes, I would get the brake controller and just drive slow with 4-ways on. I probably wouldn't go over 30. I wouldn't be able to justify another vehicle just for that short of a tow. Better off renting a slip!
