Then again, I was pulling people yesterday at noon on Lewisville and the water was pretty decent. I wonder if the hot weather has driven some of the wallies away?

The windshield featured in the picture above was rolled out for the 1982 model and was used in the final Stars & Stripes years 82,83,84,85. This is also the same windshield used on the 1986 Rainbow Stripe design. In 1987 the new Prostar 190 was introduced.

A question for the S&S gurus
This is my first post after lurking for quite a while but not being a M/C owner yet has made me refrain from chiming in before now. I've had a 1981 S&S kind of fall into my lap (sorta) and it's missing a windshield and has a cracked exhaust manifold. I know in the I/O world a cracked manifold is a sure sign of freeze damage and is usually not all that's wrong. Just curious if it's the same for these inboards. I know this isn't the place for the question but I hope you'll indulge me. It's also missing the windshield. The lower frame is there but no glass, and no upper frame. How difficult are these to find (if at all) and what could I expect to pay? It has all new stringers and floors, upholstery, and carpet. And I can get it in a trade for an old car I listed on craigslist. I've always loved these old boats and have looked for more than a few years to find one I can afford. Just trying to get some answers before diving in head first.

What is the "gel coat" on these older boats? Is it a true gel coat or something else? I've been looking at S&S and see some that state new "paint" x number of years ago. Is this truly what it is and is this best or would regeling these hulls be better and would it even be cost effective on a 30yo $5000 boat. Thanks

Hey guys, new to this board and to boat ownership. I learned to ski when I was 8 or so, behind my Grandpa's Mastercraft S&S, and have mostly been around MC for the rest of my time on the water. I have always wanted a S&S, and finally, a couple of weeks ago, my dream came true. '78 Skier 19 with 351w. The previous owner painted over the original stripe, so be kind. I am interested in getting it back to original condition, and would welcome any suggestions for good shops in the West Michigan area, if anyone knows of any. Thanks for the help, and Awesome site, I love it!
