I'm not too sure how much difference there is between the military version and the civilian version but the military ones are pure garbage!

wide, blind spots noisy, uncomfortable - I hated them so much I preferred to walk with the house on my back in Australia back in 87.

The one I drove reminded me of a farm tractor. All over the place, and the 6.5TD was pitiful.

Rather have a G wagon! A friend of mine has an H1, he loves it and people have run into the back of him a few times. He walks away with zero damage.

I can't believe they don't tow well, they were made to tow artillery were they not?

HMMWV - High Mobility Mutli-purpose Wheeled Vehicle.

In general they were made to replace the jeep and tow anything below 155mm so anything 105mm and below to include the 4.2 and 120mm mortars. Its basic roll was troop transport, mechanic truck, ambulance, TOW anti armor, and many other command vehicles.

I forgot about the very low power output as well. Had to put them in 4low to get over anything bigger then a watermelon!!

Come on Guys!! I know its not the most practical! You can make them tow better, most of the problems with these is overheating during towing. Which you can put a scoop the help.

I mean if you can afford it then buy it..

Just saying the suck to work on and are gutless and have no purpose in civilian life other than to say look at me! I've got a bunch of money and a small ****

Not saying I wouldn't want to hook a solid black one to my x star for a pic.

Drive it as much as you can before you buy it..

that's the first thing i think when i see one of those.

seriously, there are much cooler tow rigs out there that will tow way better. unless you're already convinced you're buying it, which it kind of sounds like.
