Your Skiing / Training Routine

In another thread John B mentioned that he had a bad fall on the "first pass of his first set". It got me wondering what a "typical" day of skiing consists of for most people (especially those that are spending time in a slalom course). How many passes per set, how many sets in a day, how much time between passes in a set and between sets? What dictates this (number of people you are sharing the course with or perhaps are in your boat)? etc. etc.

I was going to continue this in the wipeout thread but thought maybe it deserved its own.

Thanks
Lance

I get out twice a week for two sets, a set is six pases, on a good week I'll get out a third time. For me to improve it takes three times a week, to maintain what I got twice a week. Usally 1/2 hour between sets. I ski in the morning while the rest of the family sleeps. They come out for the afternoon so I become driver of the day.

Lance,
I do two set a day five day a week.(Mon-Fri)
Open water on the Weekend (2 pulls A day)

A set is six passes or three falls
You should stop a ever two pass.Lone enough to
breath your breath and get coaching from the boat.(1min.)
This is the time the driver resets the PP if you as going to change you speed. And if you have earn it shorten the rope.
You should my two full pass back to back before you go to a faster speed or shorten the rope.
The six pass or three falls is how it is on all courses.
That is AWSA coarse rules.

There is a boat rotation between everybody who wants to use the course. It is a boat rotation not skier. The skier rotation is in the boat. That means that if you have more skiers in your boat you do not get in the course more, you just ski less, each boat waits it turn. ( also AWSA rules)

oya
if the wind did not start blowing so early in would get in move two sets a day.

For barefooting it's 3 to 5 runs or untill I have hurt something or am bleeding. Then a six pack, rest for an hour or two then foot again untill something really hurts.

Two to Three time a week. 3 sets of six passes. Minimum half hour between sets. This is dictated by the number of skiers in our boat (4 max) and the other skiers sharing the course. The more skiers the longer I get to rest and visit which I enjoy as much as the skiing itself.

Stretching is the first thing i do.If i don't,chances are i will pull a back muscle.
First 2 passes are for warm up ,usually 1 mph slower(33).Then it's up and down the course, stop for a breather, tell myself that i am an ******* for not skiing like the guys in Waterski Mag,then a total of 12 to 16 passes will do it.I always try to finish with a good pass, never on one i missed .Put the boat back on the lift, walk 50 feet to the house and a hot shower, wine and good meal will usually do my day.

André,
I don't to beat myself up like that.
I tell myself "Today is the day I can do it"
I let the ski beat me up.
