This is a reply I got after a few questions(salt water use, which motor/trans) about the boat. I am only a few hours from the boat if its in MA like the auction states, so I asked if I could see it this weekend…

To: xxx@gmail.com

I would first like to let you know that the 2002 mastercraft prostar 197 x-7 is in perfect condition, very clean and very well maintained. The boat has 246 hours on it and will come with a clear title. The boat never been in any accident and there is no hidden damage or dents. The buy it now price is $14,800.00 including the shipping costs to VT. I am currently in Los Angeles, CA running a reseller business. If you want to buy it, email me your full shipping address including the full name and I will initiate the sale through eBay. After that, you will get an online insurance from eBay with the payment instructions.
Thanks,
Michael”
He wrote me outside of eBay so I am going to say it’s a scam based upon his reply.
Yep. Scam.

Yep and you won't be allowed to look at it because it's in a locked container or some other unbelievable location.

The sale won't go through Ebay but a fake site made to look like Ebay, same way with the insurance. He'll get your money and all your vital information and be gone with your cash.

At this point you can either screw with him for a couple weeks or take the safer option and do a full system scan on your computer, block his Email address and ditch this guy now. I'd recommend the later.

I sent an informative email to Mellow Marine letting them know someone was trying to scam their boat on ebay. After all we need to keep people aware that they are being used for such a scam. Pretty sad, but it would be worse if the dealer somehow got a bad rap for something they knew nothing about.

anyone know what year 195 this is? I've emailed the seller several times with no response at all. other big concern is all the rust on the engine almost looks like it's been ran in salt water
back seat is missing and price seems high for overall condition
plus that monkey tower has got to go and put a ND tower on it

A) It's a 205, the listing is incorrect, based on the decals. It's possible they were changed and it is a mislabeled 195, but it's not.
B) The MasterCraft decal is n the side, the tower, and whatever those speakers are have been added.
3) The rust on the trailer and engine scream $ will be put in this to get it right.

In answer to the question I'm GUESSING 92.

Current bid is at $37,000 and the reserve has already been met!

This is my backyard and I was all over this boat and was locked and loaded to bid on it back when I first saw it in the shop last February. It never came up for auction and in August I bought my X14 and never looked back.

Here is the full story on this boat. It is a bank repo and it was a clean lift where nothing was taken off the boat before it was picked up by the repo boys. Stereo is complete (often the first things to get pulled before a repo) and the manual is there complete with the business cards from the folks that sold and serviced the boat at Midwest Mastercraft. They did all the work on the boat and it is great shape. It has sacks in the back lockers. Finish is good with only a few rub spots from the cover. Nothing major. Motor is clean enough to eat off of. It was pulled in the Summer/Fall of 2012 and it was winterized and then kept at CrankyApe in their front showroom which is heated. It was there all through the winter of 2012/2013. Earlier this year around October I saw that they had moved it into the back of building into a semi-heated area. Again, it was winterized in Fall of 2012 (tag on the trailer says so) and so it should be fine for the cold as long as the guy that serviced it knew what he was doing.

If anyone has any questions or wants a specific photo of something I can swing over and get a look at it. I am literally 1 mile from the place during the day, and 4 miles at night. As I said this beauty is in my back yard.

The downside is that I have seen too many nice boats on CrankyApe sell for more than they are worth. While researching this boat the folks at Midwest Mastercraft told me a story of when they personally gave a repair estimate on a submerged MC boat. The insurance company totaled the boat and CrankyApe got it and auctioned it off. Midwest MC thought it would be a good project boat for their shop in the winter because they knew what it would cost to fix it up. Low and behold the boat sold for more than what they could have sold it for, fixed up. So someone paid way too much for a totaled boat, so much so that even a boat service company could not make money.

**Sold today for $40,026** Smoking deal for someone!
