Gotta think that the "new" 8.1l is a rebuilt for min 7,500 with the labor, and likely much more. For under 30K I'm guessing there's a lot to be told yet about this one.
I concur.

Probably, but if you lived in the area, would be worth checking out. Lake Texoma is only 8 feet under the conservation pool so if he is waiting for 20' of water before he can use it, it will be sitting for quite a while!

I considered taking a look, but it was an 18 hour round trip drive and I wasn't sure of the condition based on the pictures that he sent. From the pictures it looked like it needed some gelcoat repair on the starboard side and also on the keel from where it was hitting the roller. Motor pictures showed a lot of rust as well for having such low hours. If anyone bought this, post up some better pictures.

I did go and look at it. Your observations were correct. It would have required some time and money to restore it to its former glory. The interior pretty much need to be completed redone, the carpet was soaked, and the engine ran fine but did not look good for the hours. I made a low offer and he passed on it.

Thanks for the reply! Now I'm glad I didn't spend all last weekend driving. The owner told me he turned down $9000, which was more than I planned to offer based on the work I thought it needed.

He installed a full crate motor from jasper himself (old motor threw a rod). Txmc did all of the running gear.

Ha, thats what I offered him yesterday. Why didnt you buy it? Seemed like a half decent boat other than "unique" colors and a little neglect. I figured the vinyl could be brought back to life with a good scrubbing, buff the hull, little gellcoat repair, and some trailer fender repair. Throw another $1k or so on top of there for miscelaneous stuff that comes out of the woodwork.
