LT1 WOT #'s

After looking at the old board, it appears that for the early/mid 90's boat, the WOT should be around 4500 rpm & 5000 for the LT1. We have a '94 LT1 and it is only hitting about 4200-4300 with 3 blade 13x13 OJ prop. This gets me around 41 mph which is okay except for the fact I had to bury it to pull a footer the other day. Kinda embarassing given what is inside the engine cover....

Is there anything in the computer that would limit the rpms also? Both perfect pass & the analog tach agree on the 4200 range. I also read on a past posting the a degree of prop change gets about 200 rpm. I have heard of 13x12 props, but I would need to change 5 degrees to get to 5000 rpm, which seems extreme.

Any ideas or similar issues? PS205 by the way. Thanks.

forgot to add, the temp is in the 160-170 range, as it should be.

Also have recently added perfect pass, so I may try to disconnect the linkage to make sure that is not holding anything up.

my 96 PS 190 LT1 is about 4600 rpm's & 44mph WOT. I think it can still run better. stock 13X13 prop

My LT-1, '96 runs at 4900 (+ or-) what the tach may be off. Never checked it w/ a GPS, but was told 44-45 mph from a guy runing next to me on flat water. Same stock 13x13 OJ.

The LT-1 rev limiter kicks in at about 5000 RPM. If the max is significantly lower than that, I would look at the prop for pitch and dings. Slight dings and more cup than OEM (possibly from being repaired by someone trying to "do you a favor by adding some cup") will definitely cost you some RPM's. If the ECM makes it slow down, you'll know it. It won't be subtle.

When I first got my boat, 96 LT1 powerslot, it was turning around 4400. I had to straighten my shaft a little, and one of the blades on the prop was a little off. I could not really feel the vibration while running (I thought). I actually went up from 14 x 18 to 14 x 18.5 pitch when I replaced the prop. I could really feel the difference in the smoothness after the 2 changes. I went to 5000 rpm. Just a small vibration will have a affect on rpm.

Little late on the post but... I have a 95 PS205 LT1 with the straight tranny and stock 13x13 OJ, 375 hours. I get about 4800 and am pulling 45-47 with my gps depending on weight in the boat. (gas and people). Pass on what you find out about your perfect pass. I am curious!!
