As a displaced Bears Fan (Chicago Born, raised in the Lake county) I appreciate the encouragement. I'm lovin' the season so far, but I'm not counting any chickens yet. The defense is winning, the offense is just not losing. Like Stevo, I would also like to see a better QB. Go Bears!!!!! ![]()

For you Bears guys, this is from Peter King's MMQB Tuesday Edition.
MMQB GREG IS ON THE BALL UP THERE IN THE NORTH COUNTRY. From Greg of Minneapolis: "Is there any difference between the 2005 Chicago Bears and the '01 Bears, who won games all year without the benefit of an offense but fell flat on their faces in the playoffs?'' Greg, that is not a good question ... it is a great question. At first blush, I would say the defense is slightly better this year, more opportunistic, with better bookend pass-rushers now (Adewale Ogunleye and Alex Brown) than four years ago (Philip Daniels, Bryan Robinson). And this is the biggest difference: In 2001, Chicago got a bye in the first round of the playoffs, then waited at home for their first foe. The Eagles, far better than the Bears that year, came in and destroyed them, 33-19. This year, there's no divisional foe like that who will come to Soldier Field. In my opinion, the Panthers or the Giants, likely the first-round opponent for Chicago, are not the Eagles of '01. But the reason that question is so good is because the teams are similar. Weak quarterbacking (Jim Miller, Kyle Orton), a 1,000-yard back the team was trying to replace (Anthony Thomas, Thomas Jones), one productive receiver (Marty Booker, who, remember, had a 100-catch season in '01, Muhsin Muhammad), and a suffocating defense. So many of the points were scored by the defense. The difference, again, is that the NFC was much stronger that year -- St. Louis and Philly were clearly better than Chicago -- and I don't think you can say any NFC team is clearly better than the Bears this year. |

Hope everyone is enjoying a great Colts game. I really was worried about Jacksonville, they are a great team.
13-0.... |
