The joys of travel

After three delays Delta cancelled my 5pm flight home...got booked on one now 630am. All hotels within 35 miles are full and no rental cars are availble. What the heck is going on in Boston this week?

So here I am airport camping. Got kicked out of the terminal at midnight and most of us are in the baggage claim area. It's now 245am and the music is still on, currently blaring the Trampps Disco Inferno. Seriously. A work crew is also not far off sawing away. No rest tonight !

I feel your pain buddy. I used to go sideways all the time when things went wrong while traveling. Having much experience now, I have just learned to roll with it. Boston isn't a bad place to spend the night!

Next time...
Find a great restaurant, find a great bar, search for a hotels within 1-1.5 hr drive, get out of that airport at all cost.

Been there, done that, and most of the time it was Delta that stranded me. Had the spend the night in Atlanta airport once. Stranded in Detroit during the Grand Prix weekend but was able to get picked up. Stranded in Greensboro and drove home 8.5 hours because of Delta. I avoid Delta as much as possible..
Good Luck!!

Vote with your dollars friends.

Avoid Delta, they didn't go bankrupt without reason.

Guess they haven't learned from the experience?

Home. Finally.

From RDU unfortunately Delta has the most direct flights to my usual destinations. These are all regional jets and operated by Delta subs. One was Pinnacle ... The Delta agents called them "Pitiful airlines".

Unfortunately, I think we're stuck with Delta for a while. They're everywhere and pretty much own ATL. For a while, they were the only airline that flew into our airport, and all flights went through ATL. Now, we have Southwest too. I try to fly Southwest whenever I can but they've already started cutting back on their flights here. I really haven't had a bad experience with Delta -- other than the crappy customer service and overly-full small planes -- but they've screwed my wife so many times I'm starting to get jealous.

Air Travel = the 21st century version of riding the inner city bus. The fun in air travel went away a long time ago. You forgot to mention that we you finally do get on the plane, you get that overly large, sweaty and smelly guy who is 3/4 into your seat for the next 5.5 hours.

Pinnacle Airlines. LOL. I use them as a case study example in a Root Cause Analysis unit I teach. It's a bad thing that happened, but when you think about it, it's an interesting look in to the CYA mentality. You would think the flight crew would have been more forthcoming given their potential life and death situation.
