I ended up finding a third Saturday, but what is the Facebook group? That will come in handy around September/October.

My first time dropping the boat in on the river (big basin) was a great experience. We were able to find calm water pretty much all day.

The day also provided me with my first trailer flat tire, and roller over the bow. In return I provided some entertainment for the patrons at Mugz while tying up the boat.

Went out Friday and Sunday. Not too crowded. Ended up at Henry for lunch Sunday. Nice day to sit outside and eat and enjoy a long island iced tea.

Glad you got to the basin. My boat is moored directly behind where you are parked in that photo at mugs dock.

It's the $12 launch cost that keeps people away from the basin. As well their belief the water is any cleaner downstream (myth).

In your first photo, just to the left in that little cove is our "locals only" swim spot. My favorite spot in Chicagoland. Glad you were able to enjoy it fonz

It's a borrowed surfer term. In this case, meaning there is a group of boaters that moor at Big Basin that regularly hang out there.

Traditionally locals only means only local surfers can surf there, no tourists.

The group I am trying to build is here...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKU0...ature=youtu.be

Hoping it winds up being a water sports group for the Illinois River - I know people are always looking for thirds... and even second and thirds...

Doesn't even have to be a MC - but at least a ski boat - there's a bunch out there...

I went ahead and requested to join the group. Definitely a good idea.
