Illinois River '14

Just thought I would get a thread started for us river folks. Hopefully I can get out more than three times this year. Has anyone hit the river yet? I drove down memorial day weekend (without the boat, I dont do holiday weekends LOL) and saw a grey MC trailer at the Morris launch.

Just curious what the river is like this year, how cold it still is, and seeing if anyone will be around for meetups.

The river is great - skied sunday and will be on river this sunday. Glad this last storm was light - will keep debris down.

I am always good for a third about any time - if I get a few days notice...

I finally got my boat ready (almost) last weekend. I would think the temps would be fine as it has been warm enough. We had 2.25" in the rain gauge this morning, but I think north got much less. Hope to be out in the next few weeks.

I live and ski on the Mississippi River near Davenport, Iowa but my son lives in Chicago. I've thought about trailering my PS197 to Morris to make it easier for him to ski. He's an anesthesia resident in downtown Chicago, i.e. not much time off and needs time off! Many years ago I ran a cruiser up and down the Illinois River in that area but have never skied on the Illinois in that area. As I recall it's not a bouyed channel in that area but if it is do you ski in the channel? If you don't mind revealing the best places, where do you ski in the Morris area?

We need to schedule a Mc meetup on the Illinois. It was a good time last year.

On Saturday before Memorial day, my gauge was reading a water temp of 58.3, it increased gradually over the weekend and peaked at 78.4 on Memorial day. I did not go out this past weekend, but visited a friend who rents a spot in Seneca. Messed around on the shore for a bit, it was not terribly cold, but not terribly warm either. Planning on heading out tomorrow and will update the temp for you.
