camera mount

With the wide angle and non zooming of the GoPro, not sure you need to rotate the camera. Here is a video from the tow point on my tower, which is about 12" behind my pylon.

Honestly try mounting the go pro for a set and reviewing the video.. I don't really think you need it to follow the rider since the field of view is so wide.

Even with the medium field of view I capture more than enough. Little going on when I cut out that wide. I have a mini tripod that forms a vee when folders and has a Velcro strap. I attach it to the ski pylon in the rear.

Good question. I don't really know since I was driving and don't typically slalom. I would have to say its at least 15 off.... So maybe 60'.....

Battery - get an extra one.
Process - What program you using?
Viewing - Recommend VLC Media Player (Less crap to load)
